Digital distribution of movies will become more mainstream onces TV start having hard drives standard. I highly doubt hi def streaming will truly take off till then. Pay per view, however has been around for quite a while...
First of All I love Evil Dead 1-3, I even bought both the PS2 games and I have a Evil Dead "Ash" figurine signed from Bruce Campbell.

Haze was also smoke and mirrors, since well they delayed the game 4 times to improve the graphical engine. Then they kept pumping developer diaries every two weeks. That is probably where the budget for the game really went.
