Actually entertainment Items Games/Movies haven't seen that big of a negative impact and the Wii is still selling quite well.
All Sony has to do is get over the initial hurdle of the big ticket item (the ps3 itself), and should recoup cost as more people are renting/purchasing/ games and blu-ray titles. Hence the reason Sony keeps upping the Hard drive, so more people get digital items without worrying about space.

They should really not make a price cut but develop a new PS3 model.
Bring back the 20 gig launch model, minus the extra usb ports. Sony could then sell a wireless adapter for a extra price. Of coarse no backwards ability. They then slap on a PSN card with it and they will recoup the price in time, as long as they keep up the PSN commercials on TV stations.

WoW is succesful because the game is huge and there always updates. Capcom is unproven, and has ripped people in the past for DLC I am guessing this is going to bust unless somehow they make the universe pretty huge
Then again the Wii has no hard drive. So the "paid for updates" will be incredibly minuscule. Only a sucker would pay for this.

ACTUALLY. Another snatch 6 patch, another fu%# up.
For instance, the spawn point are all $%#$%$# up on everymap when teams switch sides. I.e. when seals player switch to mercs, they might spawn on round 5 where they died at in round 4.

Console development is the same way, with people picking up short cuts or licensing game engines for cheaper methods to making the end product. If anything the future of game development will be utilizing pre made engines (unreal, Cryengine, Phyre engine, etc).
