I just had my PS3 die couple weeks ago (track my post if you don't believe)
Got it replaced for $150, with a *surprise* 60 gig launch model. The Ps3 I got back WAS NOT the one I sent in. Had ps3 for nearly 2 1/2 years.
Seriously, though 60gig launch models are starting to have a epidemic failure. Make sure you clean out your PS3 is you have this model with canned a1r.

The internet browser on the PS3 always crashes on me when loading up certain sites ie n4g.
I tried to find a clear solution, but even after deleting the cache and cookies site still crash.
I haven't had any serious issues on software besides the Socom issues where the game isn't 100% complete i.e. missing features.
I am still waiting on that patch.

Also I experienced a similar problem on my launch ps3, but never got the yellow lights.
Perhaps this is the real reason the 60 gigs backwards compatible models were phased out. Food for thought, however the problem still isn't as big as RROD. I have yet to walk into a gamestop/etc with a non functional ps3 on display. Thats just me however.
