Funny thing is according to an interview with Don on GTTV its gonna be REALLY cheap, this is a cut I read on a forum:

The only reason I possibly wouldn't buy one at launch is because i know in a years time there will be the 3DS Lite
Yeah it is, will be interesting to see if casual consumers care about accuracy, because Wii Motion Plus didn't seem to make much difference.
At least Kinect is something 99% of the casual population have never experienced before, since next to no one had the eyetoy, and is likely the reason preorders are so high for it even with nearly half a year before it releases.
Nintendo for the first time.
Zelda Wii and Zelda:OoT for 3DS would have done it but Kingdom Hearts and Metal Gear just killed it.

Just stick to N4G, if Sony just show a black screen for 2 hours it will still be touted as the best E3 of all time
MS were very clever releasing the slim before Kinects release, this way the high demand of a new console and kinects release won't collide, because if they did they would never be able to meet demand.
Plus once the old models are all gone I got a feeling MS will release a $149 slim and cut the price of the current silm to $249. And have Kinect bundles at $249 and $349 for the arcade and elite slims.
MS got this holiday season in the bag now :)
