Fun is subjective.
It looks fun to me. Ofcourse not everyone likes the same thing.
Yeah, I facepalmed when I realized it was comparing to Minecraft. Clickbait much ?
"I will never root for a game to fail. I love this hobby and games failing is really bad for it."
The game failing is good, because it discourages publishers to try the same thing in the future. If Ghost Recon Breakpoint was very successful, they would have doubled down on this nonsense. They would have continued ripping the soul out of every franchise to make it more monetization friendly. Who knows you'll end up with a looter shooter Prince Of Persia always ...
It isn't just that though. This isn't about it being a half assed game. It isn't just that there are micro-transactions either.
By far the worst thing is that the DNA and creative vision of a game is f***ked over because of games as a service and monetization. Having a social hub, gear score and looter shooter elements ? In a Ghost Recon game ? Why ? Who the hell asked for this lol ? Some business suites decided that was necessary, because then you can monetize ...
No one was fussing. One or two people from IGN simply stated a concern about how the game would handle violence based on a preview. Now you all are using that as jerk material on any IGN coverage of COD.
"I knew they were all full of shit"
This is so fucking stupid it's unbelievable.
Citizencon on 23rd November, that's when we'll see the juicy stuff. The weekly updates till then won't be that exciting.
They are a long way from porting anything. First they can attempt porting their single player game. After they finish it ofcourse (long way from that too).
Then, maybe down the line, when they are much more feature complete, they'll try SC.
@CHronicle780
It's funding the game. If you want to complain about endless scope creep go ahead, but you can't just ignore what these expensive ship sales are meant to do because it's convenient for your argument.
It's given CIG the ability to have several hundred employees working on a game of unprecendented scale and production value. That is why people are excited for it. But you'll just ignore all of that ofcourse. What about all the people ...
Ah yes that scam that keeps making progress and does very impressive things, that many people play and are excited for. The scam that keeps making more revenue each year, but hey, I'm sure ALL the people supporting it are just doing because sunk cost or something amirite ? Yeah, sure.
That scam that Digital Foundry did a video on (because ofcourse they would, they're Digital Foundry. This was a long time coming).
But hey, Digital Foundry are prob...
lmao, the amount of ignorance xD
That's all you hear "SCAM HURR SCAM", and you believe it ofcourse, because none of you dig deeper into any controversy. No issue can be complicated. There is no room for nuance. There is only. scam. lol.
Digital Foundry is a paid shill now ? lmao. It's going to be funny, I look forward to all the explanations you come up with in the future.
1.) They spend hardly anything on marketing for a game of this size
2.) They have 500 -600 employees to pay
3.) Public financials show this to be impossible (as well as common sense)
but okay, if you say so
@CaptainTravel
CIG will keep updating the graphics, and adding cool tech.
That said, it is inevitable that next gen will bring some very impressive things. For sure, SC overall will become proportionally less impressive after next gen starts, but I don't think any space sim of that scale is being made so... SC will be fine.
It doesn't need to be finished. At the current scope it'll take a decade minimum to get to 100 star systems.
That's okay though. What people are waiting for is a state where the fundamental simulation works properly, and there is a good amount of gameplay loops. because by that stage itself, the game will be very special. (It already is for many people and increasing, but most people would not like it in current state)
"but there’s also apparently no end to the suckers willing to give it to them."
Some people like what they are doing, you just have to accept this. People who like simulation and immersion especially tend to find this game very impressive. Some people like the direction that the scope creep put them in. I would know, I'm one of them, and I haven't even backed the game, but I've been following it for 7 years.
You don't have to like it, and th...
Biggest scam in the best state it's ever been, getting more engagement than ever, being streamed regularly on Twitch.
Company has brought in the most revenue they ever have and this year is probably going to be the best.
I'm sorry, but they must be doing something right. You can't just attribute ALL of that to "Oh it's just sunk cost bro they spent money bro"
This is nonsense, come on. You can bet the devs will be very talented and extremely passionate. If they were not, they would not be making AAA games at all. That said, the structure of big companies like EA and Ubi seem to have this negative effect.
Creative vision of a game comes second to things like monetization and other external stuff that should not be the focus.
Steam is not lazy. It has amazing features, honestly.
This is nice, but it's not that new.
I think the difference is Naughty Dog will make the breathing animation and audio really good (how it responds to heartrate)
Big if true
As a PC gamer, I am STOKED to see PS exclusives on next gen consoles. It is going to be absolutely insane.
Same for XBOX (which also release on PC), hope MS do well with their investments. Next gen is going to bring a very big leap and I can't wait to see what devs can do.
