They need to make gameplay immersive, just like the atmosphere and setting they have. You can't have a super serious atmospheric, immersive game but the gameplay is just a wave based gallery shooter with quicktime events and artificial limits everywhere.

Uh, what ? Yes it would. Story and context matter in a game like RDR2. If, for example, Rockstar made most of the cowboys female, that would be really weird, and people would be legitimately annoyed by that.
