It's cross gen.
No matter how much they say "We're taking full advantage of Xbox Series X" (LOL), it's still crossgen.
Even so, silky smooth 60fps is a fine tradeoff for less than stellar visuals. I'd take 60fps anyday over a PS exclusive that looks better but runs at 30 fps.
30 fps should be outlawed for next gen honestly. Atleast the production value is still great and it looks like a ton of fun.
different people, different opinions, come on...
Will the Switch version have full raytracing ? Would be a shame to waste all that extra graphics processing power.
It's clearly a current gen game, but it still looks fantastic because of particular focus on characters (for which no other game even comes close). Not to mention the huge amount of work put in to make sure every scene looks good.
It doesn't matter. The game is being built to run on ancient CPU and memory, not to mention GPU.
They can push up the visuals maybe, but the fundamental design of the game will be limited by CPU that is several many times less powerful than next gen.
It's a crossgen game so I'm not that hyped for it.
Still going to be built around ancient Jaguar CPU...
It was a long time coming. They wanted this in their game for ages. People have been asking for this for ages.
They also said much earlier (in 2019) that they were working on a much bigger, fundamental update for later in 2020 (now delayed I guess).
lmao, when games have straight romances it's all great.
Start having gay romances ? everyone goes "what does character sexuality have to do with the game ? It doesn't matter what sexuality they are okay ? Keep that shit outta my gaems"
gotta find something to bitch about
Just FYI, it wasn't like this earlier. Just tried this in the free fly. Basically unplayable. Much worse than the Persistent Universe, which makes no sense, because it's much smaller and has a lot less going on.
Something is screwed up with SM this patch. Massive stutters every few seconds. Hope they fix this before the free flight ends...
I applaud RDR2 for atleast trying to be immersive, instead of every other game where everything is just a checklist item with a button press and a sound effect.
Looks awesome.
IMO the trailer sucked too. Even as a CG trailer it was so boring.
What ? Their burn rate is huge. They can't afford to not put all of it into the game dev.
They're probably at around 600 employees by now, or close.
The lag won't matter for some games.
It's the business model more than anything else, not to mention the data costs of streaming etc.
I've tried it a few times after the many successful updates and still hated it but hey, it's just a particular type of game. E:D and SC are more my type of thing I guess.
Still respect the devs for how far they've come, and excited to see where this game will go. If they could have a proper next gen version, they could do SO much more.
Yep, imagine what people would do with this on PC.
It would be a service to games and gamedev as a whole if they release on PC. It already is on PS4, but tools like this on PC = gg.
A tool like this would be so much better on PC. Hopefully they don't bother about sony fanboys or PCMR jerks and just release it on PC.
Hardcore PC gaming will never replace consoles like PS so I don't get the problem either way.
"Oh come off it, even on here all I've seen defending the exclusive VR along the lines of
"It wouldn't work without VR, it can't be done, it was built up with VR, that's it, that's the end of it" "
I doubt everyone was saying it was technically impossible.
Sure, it can probably technically be done, but it's designed as a VR game. Will it end up being a good game ? Meaning if you take away VR, you're left with...
That's only part of what they said. It's a global illumination problem. It's something you see in tons of games, and is exaggerated when you don't have direct light and shadow variation across a scene.
when you compare with other games that have baked lighting (which is most of those really good looking games), it makes sense. It's something you see in TONS of open world games.
Besides, they didn't stop there. They also called out ...
