In a perfect world, publishers shouldn't have any contact with reviewers at all. I'm working at a big company and we're sending all our new products to Amazon Vine customers for free so that they review them for us and these reviews are much more positive than the ones from "normal" customers. Of course people will review something better if they didn't pay a cent for it, that's basic human behavior... but unfortunately that's how business works nowadays and ...
Oh boo... should we sympathize with that now? I always thought that reviewers should buy their own copies of games so that they are not spoiled by fancy press events or advertising deals with the publishers. From a consumers viewpoint the whole "journalist" industry looks really corrupt, let's just never forget this guy

^Of course I meant in comparison to GT6, not GT7. Also I don't understand what everybody has against the AI in Driveclub, it's agressive, yes, but it's not as agressive as people are online. Which racing game has a better AI then?
^First of all it was not damage control, my assumption was spot on as you can read here:

Also I'm level 17/50 in the game and I would love to play but since the servers are down I'm rather waiting until that's fixed since the whole game revolves around online play and I want to ...
Reviews have become a joke this generation... it seems like you can't develop a game by your vision anymore, you have to complete a checklist of features that are commonplace in your genre.
I can't wait to see "journalists" criticizing The Order:1886 for being a "corridor game" or Bloodborne for being a Souls-ripoff. Meanwhile titles like CoD and Assasin's Creed will get a pass because everyone already knew what to expect, this industry is so messed up...

You have no idea what you're talking about, how is Driveclub a 1/2 product? Have you played the full game? No, because you're lacking the hardware to do so, now stop trolling.
Not even the die hard Driveclub fans would argue with that :)
But still I think that it does sound, AI and (soon) weather better than Gran Turismo so it's not like Drivcelub has to hide from GT.
I can assure you that this is NOT the reason why it's not available. The PS+ version was visible for a few minutes but it was pulled, probably because of the reason I explained in my comment above.
The servers were having issues just after the digital download was unlocked. It would not make sense to release the whole community on the servers when even the people who bought it can't play. Without an online connection there's only half of the game so let them sort out the problems first, then you can complain.
^not even Kratos :D
I just don't see a benefit for >gaming< in these figurines, sure they can exist but Sony should not follow Nintendo in this case.
Most importantly, it's more embarassing than DLC. How do you explain your partner or (adult) visitors that you are collecting small figurines of fantasy characters? Gaming is great but I wouldn't go that far for my hobby.
What would a Driveclub article be without people mentioning Forza, huh? But since you asked for it, FH2 might have more content but the actual racing is bland, almost soulless compared to Driveclub's visual effects, the sense of speed and especially the well designed tracks. Evolution nailed this aspect to the point where even Forza 5 can't compete.
Or having a backbone... or not letting big publishers penetrate you through the rear window. I won't get AC:Unity either, Ubisoft can choke on my wasted Watch Dogs money.
Well there always wassome kind of secret agenda against Sony exclusives, that goes way back to the early PS3 days when Warhawk or Resistance:FoM were bashed to death. It's like some people couldn't enjoy a PS-exclusive even if they enjoyed :D
I for one enjoy Driveclub and I will play it until GT7 arrives :)
I think it's pretty close to a 9/10 without future updates already, it's more fun than some low scoring reviews suggest and the updates will only cement the 9/10. It will never be a 10/10 though.
I think 8.5 is a fair score for this game, after playing for a few hours I couldn't believe that it got some 5's and 6's.
I feel like this game would've received different reviews if it released 2 months ago. Usually I agreed with the general consensus for a game but in case of Destiny and now Driveclub, I couldn't disagree more. It's like games are being rated only by the features they have/not have, but not by the fun you have while playing.
Giving it a 5 is way too harsh, just like giving Destiny a 6 was. I always thought that Gamespot reviews were off for some reason.
@LeCreuset
Well said, I can't believe how some aren't annoyed by this. It's a lazy decision by one of the biggest but also currently worst publishers and some people don't even care. I can assure you that every PS4 owner gets mad if you explain this to them but even Xbox owners should. Their version can only improve if Ubisoft takes more advantage of the individual hardware so it's not like they would lose anything here, it's just that the PS4 hardware would al...
Reviews are far off on this one, it's at least a 8, closer to a 9 if you rate it with the same standards that other games are being rated on. People claiming "it's not fun!" or "it doesn't have enough content!" are hypocrites who didn't even play the damn game yet, both statements are completely untrue. On GAF, lots of people are surprised that it reviewed so low after playing it for themselves, here are a few examples:
