What MS needed was being bought up by a Japanese company i.e. turn into a Japanese owned company.
That would fix it instantly!
The Japanese are the worlds most nationalistic people, that buy their own brands first and foremost. In most cases, only when there isn't a Japanese equivalent will they pick a foreign product.
MS already indicated it will be all about games at E3.
"I[major nelson] can confirm that we will have TV's (or similar) on stage to show the games.That should be the extend of TV talk in your #E3"
https://twitter.com/majorne...
I'm actually saddened by that, because I wanted to know a little more about their TV aspirations, and how it is rea...
However, for things to get better, we have to accept change!
My poor old mom still refuses to accept computers and does everything the ancient and slow way, because she is set in her old ways....
nope. it is same old for both.
@Larry L:
What delusional world are you living in?
I was playing online the entire time, and only had intermittent problems during that timeframe. There was no hack!
If you disagree, I would like proof.
Anyhow, the fact that there hasn't been a significant major outage since 2007 speaks volume about the network. Heck MS doesn't even take servers down during maintenaince. MS don't announce even announce maintenainc...
@syanara:
That doesn't change still that currently MS is the only one that doesn't require a dev kit, and doesn't require thousands of dollars to publish.
In fact,k it only cost $99 and the tools are free. You can even use the tools to create PC games completely free.
What has that good will earned MS other than whining that neither Sony or Nintendo experiences?
The thing with PS4 as far as I can tell is, you can...
I know.
For the longest time all I heard was CoD uses old engine this, old engine that. They are all sequels.
Then all of a sudden 2 sequels, a spin-off and same engine it is, I trust them!
lol!
That said I agree with ND, a new engine isn't needed every single time. It is crafting the right experience wether it is in gameplay, story, mood, artwork or even graphics.
When I play it is in the overall feel, n...
Ironically, MS is the only one for the longest time to have self publishing and free tools for $100.
As far as I know, neither Sony or Nintendo currently has self publishing. Both require expensive dev kits costing thousands of dollars, and most don't qualify to get one.
So in that sense, this next generation Sony and Nintendo is following MS footsteps!
Ironically, MS openess earned them a lot of grief and little reward if any. Don't...
@dedicatedtogamers:
MS might be flattered that you think MS designed Xbox One in half the time Sony did, but,if you took the time to see past the misleading headline you would know they are talking about the design if the box itself, user interface and so on.
Also,reliability isn't about how long it has been in development, but rather how *well* it has been tested!
No, but consumer will soon buy consoles for TV use. The market is changing just like how phones were dedicated phones turned entertainment device.
Really core dedicated handheld gaming devices, where is it going? PS Vita?
It is just a matter of time if the features are compelling.
@muerte:
Nintendo on their digital games is tied to hardware. That means you are sh*t out of luck when getting a new Wii.
They might not have online DRM yet on their retail games, but it might come sooner than you think.
Sony already has a history with online passes, furthermore there is no problem activating a game over phone similar to other types of software. The activation string can contain the psn id. No problems there.
...
I'm off the opinion that if you talk strictly about this being good for the industry, I believe it is. Of course this is under the assumption that used games still exist, but each used game sales is a profit for the publisher/console manufacturer.
That said it would be pretty detrimental to GameStop and similar business it. Well not completely, but they will have meager existence.
For consumers, the questions remains what benefits will this bring to offse...
People like you are the problem. If you have issues with DRM it should apply to ever company.
Otherwise you are just a fangirl that eventually will see the much hated feature come to your console of choice.
Geoff Keighly's is right, there is no way this would work unless both console manufacturers do the same thing.
Yet the Xbox 360 sees more entertainment use than gaming. The PS3 is the most used device for Netflix!
Consoles are no longer "gaming" consoles only. That was the PS2/original Xbox era.
Hold your money!
What you have to ask is, what is the potential for profit? Revenue is sure to be high, but profit is what keeps the company a float!
The reason why MS choose IBM/ATI last generation, was because they outright own the design and can fab the chips at their chosen contractor.
There is a reason why nvidia is chasing a different business, because the profits are low something to the tune of less than half a billion over the life o...
I really liked Alan Wake and the atmosphere was just awesome. However, I was a little confused by the game.
Remedy is one of those companies that after all these years still got their mojo!
I see Sony learned a lot from MS this time around, and no longer sees the Xbox 360 as an Xbox 1.5 or a copy of PS2.
That is a good thing!
I love competition, but I really don't like public statements like that.
It is just not classy, even though you secretly want that.
Anyhow, I'm expecting a great show from MS and Sony. Too bad about Nintendo.
Why?
The reason why the certification is in place is to prevent problems and make sure the experience is similar across the line of product.
The process being easier is good, but it shouldn't make the requirements to pass easier. The experience we had as it was, is relatively good.
I remember an indie developer complaining about MS certification process only to admit later that it was better for the user. It's just that he didn't ...
Well there is one thing weird about the name PS4, and that is the number 4 is pronounced shi, which means death.
That is why you sometimes hear PS4 referred to as PSDeath.
I assumed the Japanese would avoid the number 4, but sure enough they didn't.
