This is the crazy stuff about the cloud:
"Microsoft has big plans for the Xbox One, and it seems that creating a system more powerful than anything we have seen before is on top of the list. Early in the video, Microsoft revealed that they were able to program the real-time location and movement of over 40,000 asteroids one a single Xbox One. This is an impressive feat, especially when compared to the fact that to achieve this feat with the current generation of consoles...
if gamers weren't vocal, they would not have changed it.
MS tries to bring the future, consumers complain. MS reverts to stone age physical media, consumers complain.
Damned if you do and damned if you don't!!!
I think the real problem isn't what they do, it is the fact that, MS *is* MS!!!
@allformats:
"Remember folks, "cloud" is just a glorified name for "severs"."
That is a gross simplification. Since I have a server at home, does that qualify as a cloud?
Point being, it isn't just the servers, it is the software and tools to enable fast access to services.
Depending on what these services are and how automated they are is where the grey zone of cloud is.

@Hatsune-Miku:
"Microsoft said windows vista was amazing"
... and it was! The idiotic sheeps needed a name change to Windows 7 to see the beauty.
:D
Fact of the matter is beyond the hardware there are huge cost investment into research and development of software in addition to the infrastructure needed for the cloud.
Three OS, instant switching, smart matchmaking, and so on isn't free. Already from the outset, it seems MS has more features and an additional advanced Kinect.
So $100 isn't unreasonable for all of that. If you don't like it, don't buy it.
However, remember h...
Couldn't agree more with the article and JokesOnYou.
We got dragged back into the physical disc stone age, because of entitled whiners. It was the perfect scenario, we had two wildly different consoles and options for everyone!
Instead we reverted to last-generation console.
Kojima (creator of Metal Gear Soid) seems to disagree and box thinks Kinect, SmartGlass and the power of Xbox One is awesome.

but yeah, keep believing Sony is the ssvior of gaming and thinks of consumers best. Have we all forgotten the PS3, the cell, blu-ray and over priced PS3. What about PSP Go, or ...
I too enjoyed both Kinect Sports, Fruit Ninja and Dance Central.
If I wanted a console without Kinect, I could just get a PS4. I don't understand why people want the two consoles to be the same?
... or is it because, they wanted to tout one as the better and not just different or not for you.
For the record, I pre-ordered both Xbox One and PS4. I can't wait to use the next Kinect and the new improvements look fantastic.
Ryse, Quantum Break and Titanfalls are all great looking games!
Not huge into racing games, but Forza 5 also looked great. Also loved the driveatar i.e. AI in the cloud thing they were talking about.
I pre-ordered both, but saddened the Xbox One got crippled by the community. The awesomeness that could have been!
I was fine with it, because there were options and the trade-off was met with a number of benefits I liked, including game sharing and power of the cloud.
If you wanted a disc based experience there was PS4 and if you wanted a digital future, the Xbox One was it.
Instead we got dragged back in the physical disc stone age by the whiners!
Imagine if XBL was catered to dial up users, because supposedly 20% of the US population don't have bro...
I think that is a very balanced statement. Bubbled up and agree!
@BluEx610:'
You mean quality games like Dance Central and Kinect Sports?
Both games sold gazillions and more than many core exclusive games. They were also relatively well received by a very biased core gaming group.
The games are there, and they will be significantly better next time around.
However, I doubt you will still like it. I very much look forward to it.
People never seize to amaze me. Program has barely announced, and they give you free games. Those are quality games, but they still complain!
It's not like they give you crappy small games like PSN plus when it started. Nobody really complained then, so why now?
I know, because it was MS, not Sony offering it!
@Kobe:
Clearly you again open your mouth without knowing. I said Xbox Live "INDIE" games.
Anyone with PC, an Xbox 360 and a $100 can publish their game on Xbox 360. No hoops meaning thøere is no real approval process beyond peer approval process.
@Kobe357:
Have you heard of Xbox Live Indie Games? Have you seen the quality of games there?
Which by the way is the only platform you can self publish on console without jumping through hoops!
PS4, Wii U and even Steam goes through a process of selection usually by the console manufacturer. The only real difference is MS makes you make a deal with a publisher to get proper marketing or go through MS, but with a deal.
The pub...
I find this funny, as recently GameStop was hated by a loud group of gamers, developers and publishers.
When GameStop was about to get eliminated, and developers would get a share, it as fought.
Remember, as consumers we didn't win, we actually lost. You just don't know it yet!!!
Being able to sell your used digital games, would have lowered the prices on games on demand, because now there is competition.
Fact of the matter is that as gamers, we lost by whining.
What we lost are options, and now we stay in the stone age of physical media.
Thank you whiners, you ruined a great thing!
Even worse, you don't even know it. You are a sheep that held back the industry chanting the choir of old technol...
@influxity:
People think of cloud computing in very general terms, but it is more the infrastructure of the software that makes it happen. How do you make such power available, what feature and how is integrated with other things.
It's like XBL vs PSN, when PSN was in it's infancy it certainly wasn't close to what MS had at the time. Took Sony years to get close to feature parity, but even then it still wasn't comparable in many areas.
...
You people are forgetting something, value isn't absolute and isn't counted by specs.
It is about delivering features and use cases that customer wants, that means games, ease of use, features and so on.
There is a reason why MS consistently was able to charge a premium for XBL Gold, while Sony couldn't really sway users to switch despite being close in price (in some cases cheaper) for the console and PSN being free.
I think as M...
Actually part of it was well written, but should have been shorter. Particurlarly agree with this:
"Xbox One may have a whole lot of public perception problems, but this may be the one instance where we’ve lambasted something without giving the devil his dues first. Xbox One may be suggesting a completely radical way of doing business, and handling sales, but it isn’t a strategy crafted out of audacity and stupidity as the internet so firmly believes. If anything I perso...
