The fact you are comparing Gakai to regular cloud computing shows that you are confused about the subject.
Gakai is a game streaming service similar to Netflix, which is in no form similar to offloading computations to the cloud.
Certainly cloud computation is possible on PS4 assuming Sony is willing to invest in the infrastructure similar to how MS can invest into a Gakai like service.
However, the main question is really can Sony match Xbox...
It's a small minority making a big fuss, but I believe once consumers realize the benefits they will quickly change their tune.
After all, you can instantly share your entire game library with 10 friends and family over the cloud. Think about it, that is I can now lend my games without being physically limited to the disc and you can lend it across vast distances.
It is no longer lending, but shared game library really. Now, I buy one game and I share it ...

I wasn't going to bring it up, but Kinect can be far better value than blu-ray ever was to the PS3.
That said, the full potential of Kinect is likely to unfold with Xbox One. Based on what MS has shown, I think it will be a huge game changer.

The data is supposedly a few kb's, which means it is probably around the same amount of data as an email.
I gor both, but suspect I will use Xbox One more due to the digital game distribution. I'm getting mine in the US, but currently live overseas, that means I can get games far cheaper almost instantly.
On top of that I can share my entire game library with "family" members in the US.

Kinect One is one of the main reasons for differentiating from the PS4. Without all the service infrastructure with Xbox Live and Kinect, the Xbox One would have been cheaper than the PS4.

Destructoid had nothing positive to say about MS despite the strong showing of games at E3. The grade was determined long before E3....
Sony had a great show, but there is no way that was an A if you compare it to MS show.
The titled should have been: "Grading the 'big three' policies", but even then it wasn't that bad.
In general Playstation brand is more recognized worldwide due to how long it has been on the market and how much it dominated during PS1 and PS2 era.
Once you see the games arrive, the marketing push and the real features of each system shine will you know the trend.
At this point it surprises me that the PS4 isn't further ahead considering all the consistently negative PR MS is receiving.
I just reserved a PS4 at amazon, and already pre-ordered Xbox One yesterday.

That is the thing, most of the complaints deals with edge cases i.e when your internet goes down or when you are on vacation in the mountains.
To most people that rarely happens.
People might just find out they like the convenience and don't mind the drawbacks.
