Exactly!
Sony went from dominating to last place!
Imagine MS with essentially a monopoly in Operating System went to last place in one generation. There aren't many business cases of that happening in general.
Late in this console cycle, Sony went for market share while MS went for profitability. That is clear when you look at the pricing.
I find that once I learn the new things, I am far more efficent with Windows 8. The insanely increased performance is a huge win too.
Windows 8 uses so much less resources, and so much faster it is shame some will be stuck with Windows 7. In a year or two, they will all be using a rebadged Windows 8 as 9 and lovin it!
Just like how they hated Windows Vista, and clinging to Windows 7.
@Locksus:
"Sure, you're right. It does not always mean they're good but wouldn't you rather have a large library of games rather than play the same 3 game every year?"
It doesn't matter if that is what you want to play. The key is "games consumers want to play" and it doesn't matter even if that happens to be the same game every year. I enjoy CoD every freakin year and buy that over many games even exclusives.
...
I find it funny that MS gives gamers something, and people complain. I guess they could give you nothing and you would have nothing to complain about.
Then again, it seems the usual fanboys are the ones complaining.
If I was Activision, I wouldn't bother with upgraded engine either. Next generation is upon us and I would use all my resources on that now as evident by Wii U.
Put the remaining resources on improving the game and adding content.
Graphics is overrated this far into the generation, and there aren't many (if any) that can run 60fps (buttery smooth) with that kind of visuals that CoD does.
Keep in mind that 60fps is half the time to do ...
@SuperStrokey1123:
I will help you out, but you should try google next time.
The simple answer is netcode is the "code" (or better known as the program) that co-ordinates, sends and decides what happens when communicating with other players. In essence, this means for you what the rules are for when somebody is killed, damaged and in general co-ordinating what happens on the map.
The server does most of the netcode work, i.e. it dec...
@MrDown
"Wow. You didn't even acknowledge my point that additional features can justify the price differences."
Wii U and 3DS cost less than PS Vita and PS3. Sure, for the select few price isn't an issue and feature is. For the rest of the population, price is the single biggest factor to increasing value. There is nothing to acknolwedge about additional features, because those to combos are practically as equivalent as it gets.
@MrBeatdown:
"What is it with the simplistic price comparisons? Why is it that a stand-alone portable that also happens to be capable of Wii-U like features when combined with PS3 is such a terrible alternative to the Wii U?"
Because buying a Wii U with a 3DS is still cheaper than a PS Vita and PS3 combo by *far*!
The kicker? The price gap will widen after this Holiday, because Sony increased the price on the PS3. Amazing!

@Hicken:
"After all, you're only pretending you can take your console game on the go, since you can't even leave your house."
Nobody is pretending anything. It is a continuation of what you are doing, but more importantly it opens up gaming in new ways.
Lets face it, the Wii U probably at launch has more games using the secondary screen than PS Vita/PS3 combo has since launch.
"Why wouldn't the devs...
The problem isn't feasability with the technology.
What Sony still doesn't get isn't feasability with technology, but rather practicality!
Who in their right mind would pay roughly $300 to get shoddy Wii U like support on the PS Vita, when they can get the latest technology for the same price with the Wii U?
If you happen to have a PS3 and a PS Vita (or want one), sure that is a nice addition, but no developer other than Sony...
Who you should really blame is really the consumers and MS/Sony. MS/Sony didn't support it, nor did enough consumers either.
I bought it at $20 and regretted it, but that isn't to say it isn't a good game. It was just not to my taste.
I understand the fans, but in light of all the facts, shouldn't fans be happy that the game is at least getting a release.
If I knew a new Ninja Gaiden was made by Itagaki on any platform, I woul...
To put it in perspective, the PS3 business lost more than the PS1 and PS2 generated in profit all those years. That is to say, complete domination for two generations wiped out just like that!
I hope Sony will turn a profit this year, because they desperately need it. It would be a sad day if Sony couldn't afford to compete in the next generation!
I disagree, you start at the upper management level! Change starts at the top, not the bottom!!!
Get rid of some more executives and bunch of people on the board.
"but why not have both?"
because getting a PS Vita cost almost as much as Wii U!
Let's face it, the Wii U will be more powerful than the PS3, will cost about the same as getting a PS Vita (after the memory card purchase). That alone is assuming you have a PS3 in the first place.
With the Wii U, you get genuine support for the secondary screen, because developers can depend on it being available everywhere there is a Wii U.
That and the slow catch up to the competition. MS was a marvelous competitor and Sony got trounced in almost every department.
I didn't purchase a smart phone just to talk on the phone. I use it for far more, and it is rapidly replacing many other devices.
Point being, my Xbox 360 is rapidly replacing other devices that used to provide the same entertainment despite me initially buying it for just games. I bought it just for games, because that was all it offered, not because that was *all I wanted*!
If that is all you do for games, then good for you, but the wast majority of eve...
Problem is, Sony does set the prices in the sense that they sell it at a certain price to retailers. Unless there is a very high demand (which has really never happened this late in a console cycle), there is a lower ceiling on the price.
So Sony doesn't set the price directly, but the price is pretty much determined, because the next guy is going to sell it that similar price point.
@IHateYouFanboys:
"which its not, cause its VGChartz."
It is when it is convenient for Hicken. Otherwise, it is VGChartz! XD
Wii U still requires a box in addition to the console. I'm not entirely sure how it will enhance the experience, but this sort of thing (with hiring a high paying executive) is in the planning process way before a week ago announcement from Nintendo.
I think, Nintendo is less of a threat than Sony to MS so MS is probably watching Sony more.
Yup, so instead of a 10 second disc swap you gotta sit through a mandatory install of at least 20 minutes!
Point being, none of the solution are ideal on either platform at the time of the console release. So lets move on. We are at the end of the console cycle now and they are all aging technology.
Wii U is where things are heading right now until the other two reveal their consoles.
