The only way we are getting Legend of Dragoon 2 out of Sony is if they get desperate or a Kickstarter. Honestly its the best IP a company has ever sat on and did nothing about IMO.
Too big is never good. Activision, EA, and Ubisoft are just too big for the video game waters to be any good. They swallow up stuff and spit out bad things without knowing or even caring about the long term impact.
Destiny another 3rd party purchase for Sony. Quantic Dream 3rd party studio that has been *bought out*. Since Farenheit/Indigo Prophecy they haven't released on PC. Insomniac's upcoming Spiderman game can only be quality for one system....Acquisitions by Sony since PS1: 1 Sony Bend, 2 Zipper, 3 Media Molecule, 4 PS Now, 5 BigBig Studios, 6 Studio Liverpool, 7 Sigil Games Online/Verant Interactive (Everquest), 8 Incognito Entertainment, 9 989 Studios, 10 Evolution Studios, 11 Guerilla ...
@joeorc
Not much of a read really. They only covered the glamorized acquisitions and joint ventures/forming of studios there. But at least you came with a source.
Yes. Agreed. Its really an amazing game. However, the tank controls do prohibit it from being as dominant as it could have been. Playing it safe in the middle only gets you so far.
Capcom is very careful with their main franchise. I also don't think they like admitting mistakes. Re4 had the controls mistake. Re5 had forced coop and too much action. Re6 I can't really comment haven't played much of it yet. This re7 really looks like they could fix alot of stuff....
Maybe I been a gamer too long but when I hear a dream team coming together usually I think of a game that will be a disaster in some sort of way. P.T., Haze, Goldeneye XbLive, Duke Nukem Forever. Hopefully I'm just wrong in this era and we see a turn of events. This should be the best team/game we have ever seen assembled. However, I don't get hype anymore due to the way things have gone.
@Keeztoast So you believe Sony buying IPs and then studios is better? Can you be more one sided for playstation? I love a good playstation game just like anybody but don't pretend they came into a business they knew nothing about with all their own studios and employees. Its just not what happened here guys. Sorry.
@jb227 Renting is another form of subscription really isn't it? If you stop subscribing to the game you lose it :/
Okay. Can you look at the links I put in there? Remember you were the one who supposedly can prove that Sony started its own studios. But if you look at the links you will see they took companies that were independent. But I guess in your eyes because many of those companies worked with Sony during the dominant ps2 era they were Sony's to begin with, ho...
I think what he is saying is he would like them to bring them to PC like Microsoft is doing in hopefully a better fashion than UWP
@jb227 "When did that ever happen?" -- Literally the entire time.
Good point "if you were a pc gamer, you would just be happy." Just like I'm happy to not subscribe to ps now. Tried it on ps3 and it was nothing to write home about. Have you tried it? If you are going to say "predominantly" you are just agreeing with what I said. They had timed exclusives and all this kind of stuff that doesn't happen nor do we need to have happen on pc....
By your logic every other game should be stronger if they removed the strafe. It was just a weak game if they had to use that logic in the first place to enhance the game. Be honest with yourself. They were playing it safe by keeping tank controls from earlier titles, thats it. It didn't enhance anything really. I love re4 and admit it would be a better game if even slow strafing movement was in it (not moving while aiming)
1) Buy out all the studios we can. Have them make exclusive games for us, never on PC.
2) Release the worst performing networked version of our old platform a decade later and require a subscription to access it. Thanks Sony for looking out
3) But naw
Amen!
I love this game. However, why they couldn't add a strafe and/or modern controls in an impossible mode? This is the game that made survival horror an 'action' game and ruined the franchise to many. Shouldn't it at least have fully modern controls if they gonna touch it?
Ah well. Good job cashing in again hard Capcom.
I'm not a marketing guy. However, surely naming is a part of the marketing decision. I will use your example. If Nintendo called their next console the Nintendo Plastic Game Box...Some people would think is this a follow up to the GameCube. Does it have proprietary discs? Is it a cube again? Have Nintendo really lost it?
Take a look at Microsoft. Do you think the Xbox 2 would have fared better against the Playstation 3? The name would suggest this is Sony's third ru...
Sony could possibly doom its success by segmenting its community. Why not sell the ps4 and build a pc at that point? Is the ps5 going to play ps4 games at a superior edge online as well?
I have been let down by ps4 more than any of my past consoles. A new version only 3 years in is very disappointing.
If Nintendo's launch is as good as I expect it to be (affordable memory, replaceable battery, free online) I can't say no to that for sure. If Micr...
I think the name for the NX will be the Nintendo 0 (NES Zero). I think they learned from naming their last systems that name is important and carries alot of weight (especially when aimed at casuals too). This would signal the unit is small /portable and a throwback to NES era home consoles of the past with one word.
I think mid-generation/next-generation consoles compare more to new operating system revisions/releases. You have to buy the upgrade to play some newer things and get new features or you are forced to upgrade eventually.
I never understand why people equate a console refresh with a comparison to tablets, phones, or laptops. They are completely different. Mobile devices are meant to be cutting edge and there is never a pure division between units (Apple has always had new ha...
Yep. The guy didn't rule anything out. Why would they be worried about making their game for NX yet when they need to see the sales on current platforms first and the NX is a long ways before launch. Heck, they are probably more worried about how a Scorpio version or Neo will be handled right now if anything
Honestly I am proud of Sony for this. It really helps preserve the idea of what gaming on a console is. Buy a PS4 and it just plays online evenly against all other Playstation 4 units until the generation is over.
Playstation 4 and the WiiU might be the last generation of console offering a level playing field online. The Xbox seems to be making moves similar to PC, mobile, and Steam Machine gaming where the competitive experience can be influenced by having newer hardware....
