They fail to see the brilliance of the game. That's all. Apparently, if I don't like God of War, nothing much here will change my mind...then some stuff about Halo that I didn't get. Too much to read indeed. Ugh...
Damn straight I do! It start with "You're wrong!", has an "I'm right" in the middle and then ends with "There will only be chaos!" Enjoy your XBroke Three Sh*tty, hater!
Ooooh, sneaking in the EDGE review. Nice sucker punch. Well, it doesn't matter what EDGE thinks or what this site thinks. So long as all the PS3 gamers love this game - just like the majority of the game media unabashedly loves and supports it - that's enough. We don't need to worry bout "innovation" or "newness" when the core game is this flawless. Action games like Bayonetta and Darksiders should be taking notes from this bad boy.
It doesn't matter whether they support my views. It's too low a score and standard to be reviewing a classic such as this.
This review is just...god, it's like this guy isn't playing the same game. I've seen the Hades fight and it's arguably one of the bigger highlights in gaming. Yet, this guy has the audacity to call it humdrum and then use it a basis to analyze the whole game (being very uneven and whatnot)? Lame.
An "8.5" review for God of War 3. huh.
This should be labelled under "crimes against humanity". :|
Lies are the new truth, oh my god!
God of War III isn't the same as Heavy Rain. HR was a mystery wherein the identity of the Origami Killer was a meant to be the shocking revelation.
We already know how God of War III ends (Kratos kills every one - duh!) but the journey getting there? That's not something that can be easily spoiled, unless you watch the videos...or guys like Bungie, as you say, are capable enough to write an entire walkthrough of what goes on (and it'll take a post longer than the longest N4G post...
Trust me every one, there are plenty of places spoiling the game out there. However, if we allow leaked endings and gameplay videos of unreleased titles, I think this is completely legit.
If you don't want to touch, that's up to you but as a PC gamer who only has Bad Company 2 and Call of Cthulhu to enjoy these days, I'd like to see God of War 3 in action. You know, see what I'm missing...sniff... :(
I'm pretty sure they're just shoving rhetoric down their throats, then. Most 360 gamers either like their Gears or Halo. These journalists are comforting a non-existent breed in that case.
Greek mythology, especially God of War's telling of it, appealed to me far more than Bayonetta or even DMC. However, it's been stated before and recently restated by Stig Asmussen, director of God of War 3, that DMC was a source of inspiration for them (and explains how Dante's Inferno does the same, using God of War as it's base).
"The Capcom, Devil May Cry games kind of do their own thing and they have their own language and it's fantastic as I said we've learnt a lot fro...
God of War 3 has the graphical muscle but hey, let's face it: Bayonetta was never meant to replace it. Ditto for Darksiders. It was only meant to fill the void. And if it served that purpose long enough to stave off waiting for GoW 3, then props to Platinum Games.
Not to nitpick or anything (I have in fact played more God of War in my life than Bayonetta) but could you point to me one review that truly has the audacity to state "the focus" to be on "the fact that young boys could play an action game with a milf as the main character"? Such a site deserves to be discredited above all else, and as far as gaming journalism is going these days, I can comfortably say I haven't read such a review yet.
PS3 fanboys on N4G: If you haven't noticed for the past, oh, year, HHG doesn't give two craps for what you want. Only that speaking anything positive about Sony, anything at all, will give him the hits he so desperately desires. Seriously, he's just using you guys, not giving you the outside appearance as gamers but as whiny kids who can't tolerate things not happening your way.
That being said, if you still go along with him, do as you will (read: it's your own damn fault).
But that itself is a big impact. It paved the way for shooters on the XBox and became a forerunner (no pun intended) for the whole open world war shooters we see today. A lot of FPSes have shown up that surpass Halo in overall quality, but somehow miss out on featuring so many enemies/allies fighting on screen at once. Of course, Halo's crappy graphics play a big role in allowing this, but still...
Just depends on how they execute it I suppose. Halo 3's MP was nothing special but lots of people get into it somehow (me as well when i just stop thinking).
@Gameon: Good point. Speaking in terms of Halo, while it's good to see some new weapons, maps, and whatnot, it's nice to see that they're at least making an effort to shake things up. I'm actually very interested in the CQC part - will they have something that provides more incentive for using it over guns? Will there be a sort of mini-game attached to it or a combination of buttons to press? It's kind of exciting, actually. :)
That being said, this game may surpass Halo 3 or ODS...
But the jetpacks are kind of cool...though Tribes did them first. And there's CQC, though for some reason, Spartans vs. Elites somehow reminded me of Spies vs. Mercs mode from Splinter Cell: Chaos Theory (but only in terms of naming).
For all we know, he already is dead and channeling the immortal sin of Lucifer in his shell. That would explain Tony Hawk: RIDE.
Exactly what I was thinking! And true spartans aren't like those colourful little gob-smacks from Halo. So comparing Chief to Kratos is just plain wrong. I swear this reviewer is just plain bananas.
