although i wouldnt say that its a fact nationally my experience is that indeed adults do tend to choose the PS3.
Out of all the people i have worked with over the last 4 years i have encountered 11 PS3 users and zero xbox users. However i fully accept that amongst teenagers then the xbox seems to be more popular.
Make of that what you will but thats my experience.

I have a very powerful PC which i use for HD video editing and i choose to do the majority of my gaming on PS3 except for RTS games which i prefer on PC.
Why? because all those things you list that the PC version of BF3 is going to have are not that important to me that i feel the need to have a PC plugged into my TV - its that simple.
I keep my PC in my work room and i play games on my PS3 in my living room. I have no desire to mix those 2 seperate areas...
50 million sales for the COD franchise does not equal 50 million players globally unless you are assuming that each new iteration of the game brings on 10 million brand new players - which would be nonsense.

How is being taken to the ground by a UFC fighter any worse than being juggled up in the air by a teleporting ninja?
It just sounds like you couldnt get your head around the ground fighting mechanics because then you wouldnt have seen it as such a negative to have your fighter on his back.
So your criteria for a game being casual or hardcore is whether or not it has QTE or on screen button prompts? - utter bollocks.
Vanquish, Ninja Gaiden, and Bayonetta all have these kind of button prompts and i would hardly refer to them as casual.
Even Black Ops (from the series you claim dosnt have button prompts) has button prompts so that pretty much pisses on your theory.
To some people it wouldnt be random gameplay.
Clans might want to watch it to discuss tactics, friends might want to watch it to see some epic killstreak, people who dont own the game might want to watch it to see how the game actually plays.

Think about how you can install PSN games on up to 5 different machines and then ask yourself why you would need to buy the same game twice.
I think 2142 was the best of the series - but then again i just have a thing for bipedal mecha tanks and flying fortresses.
In all fairness KZ3 and SOCOM 4 were both released in a pretty sorry state so the critics points were justified - SOCOM still dosnt even have a party system which is pretty ridiculous for a game focused on its online multiplayer.
