I loved playing FFxi on my 360. I thought that DCUO on PS3 was incredible for my first F2P MMO experience. I didn't play much but it certainly impressed me. Playing the FFxiv Beta on PS3 is also an amazingly fun experience so far.
MMO's on consoles, successfull? Of course they will be.
On my one hand I would not want FFxiv to be F2P. I believe the quality would suffer and the community would not be as cohesive.
On the other hand I don't like that they are charging full price for the game when you're going to be charged $12-15 per month. I think subsription based games should be priced less.

I'm struggling with my FF backlog so I'm posing this conundrum to you all.
(History) I was there for FF1 on NES and when FFiv made it to the states as FF2 on SNES but then college and crap got in the way and I didn't play a FF until a buddy got me hooked on XI (free/clear 2yrs now). Now I'm struggling with tying myself over between the XIV Beta weekends cuz I'm jonesin' for FF.

My buddy did the VO work for the starting character so I'm a little jelly of him but very happy as well. I've heard nothing but good stuff about this game so far as well. But then this is a site I've never heard of before so... whatever.

Methinks this Kraken thing is stronger than we first anticipated.
Seems like it has the potential to be better... seems less full of "grind to insanity" type content and it's amazingly pretty. I played a mage to lvl 10'ish and a Lancer to lvl 5. I had a blast the entire time.

I'll definitely be hooking up my keyboard for communication... but I felt the controller was working out for me pretty well. Felt very similar to FFxi's gamepad controls. Really looking forward to playing some more of the beta tonight.

I really didn't find the article as flameworthy, whiny, or ranty as others here. I got into the ps3 beta this weekend and I had an absolute blast. So glad I preordered now.
