The obvious downfall to that is that the quality will suffer.

I'm pretty sure there is like a 3 day online trail for games with online passes. It should be enough to try the online and see if you like. If you do then you can buy the $10 online pass or buy the game new.
It was alright. there were some game-breaking bugs in the outside area of the map. Don't know why people compare it to COD. It's a completely different game.
Anyway the servers were down a few hours ago on PS3 so hopefully they're fixing some of the bugs.

PCs get upgraded multiple times a year. Of course PC graphics are way above 5-6 year old consoles that don't get their graphics updated, ever.
Its no surprise that PC-centric franchises like Elder Scrolls and Battlefield are low on the list of a market dominated by consoles.

Both Skyrim and Battlefield are both PC-centric franchises.

But if you're a casual gamer and don't really care about exclusives. If you only play the occasional Call of Duty then a PS3 is perfect for you since its also a Blu-Ray player, has Netflix, Hulu Plus....etc.
Even if you're not interested in the PS3 exclusives there's a ton of multiplatform games on PS3.

Quite the opposite. I've seen Battlefield veterans complaining about exaggerated animations, low-res textures, lag, slow knifing....etc

In fact, Japan is the only country keeping the PSP alive right now. If it wasn't for Monster Hunter the PSP would've been dead worldwide.
