They can't afford a $100 price drop and keep the kinect but they can easily afford dropping the kinect and lowering the price to $400.

If there's problems with the console and there's a huge chance that Microsoft will reinstate DRM in the future anyway then why the hell would you even consider buying the console when you have a perfectly good alternative thats got better hardware and cheaper. It blows my mind people are buying this monstrosity but I guess you can look at companies like apple where there fanbase just deals with it even though iphones and worse than android.

The only thing thats an opinion on which is better is the features and the games, besides that the PS4 is better is a fact for almost everything else.
They will just wait till everyone buys it, then do a firmware update and add to the ToS you can't buy a Sony product after agreeing and readd all the DRM and non used game stuff.

Even hardcore xbox fans don't want to be forced to use kinect. Do you see the masses going out to buy kinect? No, it is for casual gamers and the target market for it is families not gamers. So if your going to have a hard core gaming console why the hell does it force you to have a kinect.
Another problem a lot of people have is their rooms are not big enough to use the damn thing in the first place.
My guess is Game Publishers told them to drop it so they could make more $.

Acutally SimCity uses some cloud computing on PC so it isn't 100% non existant.
They should of eased into it instead of doing a full frontal assault on full DRM and no used games. Steam is getting closer to what Microsoft tried to achieve because Valve did the transition correctly. PC Gamers will be enjoying lending/trading digital games soon according to recent leaks and Microsoft's failure to do it correctly has set consoles back another few years behind PC.
