Always have, man revolutionized film and wants to do the same for this medium.
Wouldn't even call what ND makes these days a "game" and I mean that as a complement. As for the "tired tropes" asepct, ND plays to a genre, they take something pre-existing and make it their own. Did it with Uncharted and the Adventure films of the 1930's, they will do it again for Zombies and The Last of Us.
Longer? Probably. As Dynamic? Probably not.
I just wanted to share that I got a chuckle out of you using a quote seeking to redefine the medium and find a more accurate name only to call it a "game" in the next sentence.
I would imagine ND is also trying to get story out of cutscenes and into gameplay, something I support.
"We're trying to move the medium of video games into an area elevated in the same manner of respect of film," Balestra says. "We want to redefine what our medium is even called. 'Video game' is not an accurate name anymore. It is not necessarily a game with rules and a winner and a loser. It's an experience."
That's what I f*cking wanted to hear, ND! The dawn of interactive cinematic entertainment indeed!!!!
I miss the combat from the first trailer, the one where a blade actually cut like a blade. Slicing your enemies in half shouldn't be a reward after a combo or something like that, it should be a constant.
I knew it had to be ND and am glad it is. My big question is whether or not ND keeps building upon the idea of cinematic traits and presentation that we saw a little bit of in Uncharted 2 and a lot of in Uncharted 3. I guess The Last of Us will determine if that formula will stay with Uncharted or if ND is serious about ushering in the dawn of interactive cinematic entertainment.
I knew it was going to be ND! With respect to GG and Santa Monica, they do not carry as much weight as ND does as a developer, at least not to the masses. My only question is whether or not it will have the same cinematic presentation that UC 2 and 3 has...
A new IP from ND with the "Uncharted" formula? Someone, help me off the floor!
Is it possible that there are two PS3 exclusives? This and "Last of Us?"
Uncharted is the birth of interactive cinematic entertainment, a formula that needs to be adopted by others.
I would like emotions outside of cutscenes.
You know, Skyrim is the fifth Elder Scrolls...
Oh, very much so.
I don't think some of you read the article. They are not going to make DS3 an FPS, it is still a TPS. The idea is that the Dead Space universe is going to be explored with more genres after the trilogy.
Once again, I have no problem with a take like this as long as it doesn't remove the formula with the titled series. We need more flight games, FPS's can be enjoyable, and the "Uncharted" genre is yet to really be taped.
Elder Scrolls 6: Summerset Isle
Never a big fan of her representation of Mandalorians.
Vita and IPhone people are completetly different. PS Vita users are into games, Iphone game-players are bored people in the doctor's office...
