I don't understand the complaints about the friend codes. I have no problem with them. But by the sound of it, quite a few people are upset and disappointed about these safety features.
While I agree that the graphics are not superior or even on par with the PS3 or the XBOX 360, they were not meant to be. But I do agree that Nintendo could have put more effort and money into "upping" them a bit more than what they are.
The "few good games" arg...
After watching that I would say that Nintendo brought more to E3 than the others but of course I was not actually at E3 to attend each company's conference so this opinion is very limited and filtered. However, from other articles and press statements conveying a similar conclusion, I would assume my opinion to be accurate within the majority of the critics.
This interview provides information on Nintendo's current stand, outlook, and mindset on gaming and the audience. Not a bad read. It's basically about the character and attitude of Nintendo.
The variety of ways a third party (or any party) could implement the Wii Balance Board is myriad.
Just think about playing new crazy snowboard or skiing game. I was about to say SSX but EA is starting to really upset me. Stand on the balance board, grab two Wiimotes for ski poles, and get immersed into the game (and tired and sweaty) in a new way. I just think this board has serious potential.
Or even using it for an FPS to lean around coners, in a fighting game ...
"...only excuse being that if it saves one life then it is worth banning the game..."
That sounds like a damn good reason to me. Otherwise you're saying that a life is only worth the retail price of the item. All life is priceless.
P.S. I'm not implying that you personally think that a life is only worth the retail price of a game. I'm just showing you that your statement implies this.
Let me make it clear, I'm not looking to ban intellectual property unless it has serious and harmful repercussions on society, like watching a Uwe Boll movie.
@ PlayStation360: Indeed, there are people who find entertainment in material such as this, horror movies, ect. My question is why? Oh, and of course, it's a no brainer to shield our children from material such as this.
@ XENOCIDE: No, no, no. You've seriously misread my statements and questions. Please re-...
Good one...
This article is incredibly rediculous. I almost feel violated and disgusted by the splatter of biased words vocalized by this obvious fanboy.
Seriously, when I loaded the page the pixels on my screen started to flee from the intensity of this individual's fanboy halitosis. How do we silence and extinguish such a source of moronic and irrational ideas?
Killzone 2 looked phenomenal but I think "really good" is an understatement for GTA IV. That game is going to be outstanding.
Yes, what a creative and constructive concept. This is just what we as a species need to advance our humanity intellectually and compassionately. Whoa! My sarcasm meter just blew up.
Seriously, games where the the player gets rewarded for killing the innocent, killing without cause, or killing to kill, are grotesque, vile, and a symbol of a culture that lacks morally and ethically educated individuals. It also reflects the rampant saturation of irresponsibility in the gaming co...
I didn't receive that memo. Where and when did Nintendo's marketing plan surface to the public? Or is this just your opinion? Because without evidence, I see no reason to agree with you.
Just a few words toward Dlacy13g, if you are trying to find support for your arguments it may be wiser to stop name calling the masses (and thus the majority of gamers) as retards.
Try acting a bit more educated and mature about your arguments and maybe more people will "see" your point (I used "see" because I noticed your other senses have been deteriorated by current mainstream technology).
My guess is that it didn't have much in terms of gameplay and story. It was probably a concept created around the Wiimote without much content. Hopefully, if they paln on releasing this game it carries a signiicant story and immersive gameplay instead of just swinging around an oversized hammer at robots bent on world destruction.
On your question regarding Nintendo pushing the hardcore gamer into a niche, I hope that isn't the case.
In my opinion, the hardcore gamer surfaced as a result of the graphics, FPS, and online driven era. It was a natural progression for these types of gamers to emerge. But unfortunately, there's only so far one can take these paths without repeating material, gameplay, and graphics. Ultimately, advancement becomes slow, demand decreases, and as a result the entire gaming commu...
Indeed, time will tell.
Sony has already entered into what you would consider the gimmick with their six-axis controller. Now when Microsoft enters this domain with their motion sensing controller, will it still be a fad?
I think you fail to realize that motion controls, although at first glance seem like a gimmick, they are here to stay. Motion controls are a natural progression in game control. If you are old enough to remember you would know that when the NES ...
That's a good way to do it...
I see where you would like to go with your argument but your logic is not correct. Your statement that longer wavelength EM radiation is harmless because light has a shorter wavelength and it does not "harm" us is untrue. Excitation of atomic states, molecular states, and chemical bonds are not that simple.
For instance, hydrogen's ionization energy is around 13.6 eV, which has an associated wavelength of about 91 nanometers (or 91*10^-9 meters). But hydrogen also abs...
Very nice. That was funny...
I pity you and anyone else as shallow minded and as naive as you are. Your lack of understanding of the need for social and family bonding is respulsive to say the least. If you wish to reject family and social interaction and become an isolated hermit who dwells on selfish and self-centered ideals then so be it. But I've got news for you, after you lose your loved ones and realize you have nothing else but your self loathing and pathetic character you'll finally understand you were wrong. ...
Fable 2 will definately introduce new and unique gameplay mechanics. I think innovative gameplay is good thing even if it ends up as unpopular or frustrating because it means that developers are trying to expand gameplay to new levels. I'm not saying to continue with the gameplay if it's terrible, I'm saying it's good that developers and companies are exploring new and innovative ways to play.
Over the past few years, I've been assembling a story and some gameplay concepts into...
