I have to agree. GTA IV was such a disappointment for me. I ended up playing the Saints Row games (of which the first is actually the best, in my opinion) and the Just Cause games and The Saboteur and Mercenaries and RDR and... well, now the entire series doesn't even seem all that fun to me. I bought an entire series, one game sucked, then I just kinda didn't like any of them anymore.

To be honest, I'm not looking forward to GTA V all that much. I didn't like GTA IV... pretty much at all, but I love RDRedemption and I think it's one of the best games ever made.

Your friend still has a point, regardless of who's developing it. Don't get me wrong, I LOVE Naughty Dog and I consider myself a fanboy of theirs, but I once considered myself a fanboy of Free Radical, BioWare, and Blizzard as well.
Get excited for the best and prepare for the worst. That way, when it's good, you'll like it even more. And, if it does suck (which I doubt, but the point still stands), you won't be shocked.

Milking? You obviously don't know what milking a franchise is. If one game comes out every two years (and there's only been one Uncharted game outside of the main games), that's not milking.
Think of Jak and Daxter. The first came out in 2001, the next in 2003, the third in 2004. Even with a year between 2 and 3, that's not milking. They made a trilogy and left the main franchise. Daxter came out in 2006 for PSP and The Lost Frontier, again for PSP, in 2009. ...
Naughty Dog may be working on TLoU, but it would be nice to see that an Uncharted 4 (maybe for next-gen consoles?) could possibly be in production.
