Honestly it does not seem like you know what hardcore is yourself. If you actually played the secret levels of 3D world instead of basing your opinion on a trailer, you would see it differently.
Mario in the latest years have been a great combination of both casual and hardcore gameplay.
Zelda is honestly enough for me. Though march is packed if you already own a ps4, wich I recon most do. Horizon, Nier, Mass Effect, Wildlands, KH 1.5 + 2.5 HD, South park and Persona 5 in early april.
Having a new Zelda, a new secondary console and all the games coming out on ps4 is showing how march is going to be one heck of a month if you can afford it.

Wow, Zelda at launch is incredible. This and the new mario is enough for me.
It is probably in the middle of XB1/PS4 and Wii U. Though this is in some way a handheld and a home console. Both the Vita and 3DS was 250$ at launch. The Switch is more powerful and will play home console games on the go.
It seems like a pretty great deal so far.

I'm pretty sure the goty fight will be between Horizon, RDR 2, Mass Effect A and Zelda BoTW. I'm incredibly hyped for Ni no kuni, Nier and Gravity Rush 2, but those games usually don't get picked for goty.

Totally agree. I've been avoiding the comment section on N4G the past years because of the heavily biased poeple, even though I love what Sony has been doing the past years. I don't understand the need to bash down other consoles and their games. Especially if you call yourself a gamer. Why are you so angry about a game you clearly haven't played? There has been a ton of changes which is why Syndicate is one of the best alongside AC2 and Black Flag. You only need to search for them instead of going on a ignorant rant.
I liked it alot, though I'm not sure if I really liked the revive system. I think it kinda ruined the pace and flow that U2 and 3 multiplayer had. It is fun at times -having to be a bit more strategic- although I would prefer if it was not there.

Square Enix was unclear in their announcement and some thought it was episodic in the essence of tell tales or RER2.

Bayonetta 2 and the Xenoblade games are top class games. Last Story and Pandora hearts was also some pretty harcore experiences. There are not many but Nintendo still makes a few new hardcore games. Hopefully Nintendo will continue with these IPs.
Nintendo has also released Splatoon, Wonderful 101 and Hyrule Warriors. Also just because a game contains mario doesn't make it the same game, there are still being made new games with new gameplay containing mario.

I get your concern, but as long as there are talented writers, producers and actors behind the title I think it is good that they have freedom to do what they feel is best.
There has not been many game to movie adaptions that has had a high budget or a talented director and cast behind it (imo). Maybe without the exception of the Prince of Persia movie, which was pretty decent. So I think it would be wrong to call it history and say that it doesn't work so early.

It seems my perception of the term "owe" is different from yours.
What I meant though is more like this: A company's goal is to earn money and they are required to make something their costumers want in order to do so. But they don't owe their costumers anything as if the costumers are entitled to good product...
