I LOVED Sega channel, I got to play so many games I would have otherwise never been able to play. It had an awful habit of deleting saves though, played to the end of Shining Force just to have my data deleted ggrrrr >_< Bad moments aside, I really hoped that kind of distribution was going to become standard. Still waiting, maybe Gaikai can do it but I kinda doubt it...

This is a great article and I think it not only brings up problems with players (I'm one of those by the way-playing Kingdoms of Amalur and 22 hours in still just doing side quests, hoarding too much crap and such) but also in game design itself. How many of those gems have failed to make the transition to being available as (legal) digital downloads? As soon as PSN or Live stop being supported access to any of those digital only games is gone, unless you have them downloaded which is ok... until you system breaks. All gone.
