Oh man, I completely hear you on the GameStop thing, I've had to buy a couple too many games over again and kicked myself in the teeth a couple of times over some bad decisions (like selling the Prime Trilogy to them before it was oh so rare).
Strangely enough though the reason I stay physical is also one of the reasons you've gone digital and it's that I want to play those games in the future. Something like Ultimate MVC is no longer available digitally, Earthbound was on...
I'm not one of those people, but I'll definitely buy digital if it's the only thing available like with indie titles. No DLC though, it's too evil for the most part...

It hasn't worked for Chrono Trigger, FF VI- IX, Secret of Mana, Secret of Evermore, Type 0 or any other old game fans have clamored for except for X and it's not even the FF that people want most. Sorry Squeenix, I have no faith in you.

Same here, I went to Target to pick up SMB3DW and there were two PS4 systems. Also went to a GameStop and they were easily available there as well. This is in Oklahoma by the way.

Donkey Kong will not change this, nor will any other single game save for MAYBE SSB or Mario Kart. But Donkey Kong, Bayo, X, the previously mentioned games, some hopefully on the horizon Direct announcements and some decent indie support all together will hopefully at least help.

Same here, Bayo 2 has been my most anticipated title since it's announcement. Can't wait to heel stomp some angels or demons and fight Satan while riding a motorcycle through a black hole while performing violent striper gun poses with tight controls to Utada Hikaru songs :D
Also agree with the new IPs, the sequels can go a long way but Ninth needs some new blood in their line up.

If the game needs a $60 price AND a subscription AND microtransactions to make profit then the budget is way to bloated for this game to exist. The 'cheapskates' have made Guild Wars and many other MMOs a lot of money but those people won't bite at such an expensive product so this game will fail. Too bad Bethesda doesn't understand how the world works, otherwise they could release a more affordable product and clean house like so many other MMOs.
I look forward to the next patch that will fix this problem but cause another one...
