Someone turn the switch off (Nintendo Switch that is)

Looks great but too bad I'm not gonna buy a wii u2 ahem* I mean Switch.

I don't know what the switch is trying to do. It's too weak for a home console. And too bulky and less efficient for a portable. It should have stuck to one thing and did it well, but instead it's doing 2 things half as good.

Personally I am not going to buy the swutch, because I am in no need of a home console, that is inferior and is limited and restricted because it...

I always loved nintendo. But I can't buy the switch. Because, they've lost touch with the gamers. They are after new audiences: the casual and mainstream (the same guys who bought the wii). They are trying to replicate what the Wii did, while (successfully) alienating and frustrating their core market.

Personally, I will not be purchasing the switch. Because I am in no need of a home console, that is inferior and is limited and restricted because it is moonligting...

@Phonixup
I agree with all your points. But you can't argue with these guys who belong to the nintendo-fanboy-cult. They have Stockholm syndrome or something.

It's obvious that nintendo wii sold well because of its low price point (compared to the competition at the time ps3/x360) and it's new motion controls and it's casual market exposure.

The wiiu was completely abandoned.

The 3ds only sold well because of...

Why is this flagged as inappropriate?

Yeah your right, give us demos at least. Games are now $70-$80 (here in canada) that's not cheap. So why should I gamble on a game from a fairly unknown developer or studio?
If I'm going to invest in a new game I need to know it's good. Or I'll just wait till people's opinions come out about it.

This does not include studios or franchises with good rep, I always buy their games regardless of review scores (naughty dog, santa monica studios, bet...

@Majiebest
You hit the nail on the head. Great points.
I feel and share your frustration.

I was a nintendo gamer for the first half of my life. I never looked back since switching to the ps2. Actually I bought a wii and regretted it and sold it on craigslist.
I really wanted them to do good. But this smells like another failure.

No when new consoles come out they are usually more powerful then their older counterparts. So the higher price is justified because there is new tech. In the case of the switch it's an inferior product so ofcourse it's going to get compared to consoles that are more powerful or equally powerful.

Same thing with any tech like the new Android phones and Iphones. People compare for newer tech and more power. But they can't release with weaker tech from their coun...

It's not unfair because technically the ps4 is more powerful. So it's not like new tech or a superior tech you are paying for. Comparison is fair.

It would only be unfair if you compared let's say ps4 and ps3 on ps4's launch. Because yeah the ps3 is cheaper when ps4 was launched. But ps4 is a more powerful system. And ps3 is outdated and on ps3's release it was more expensive. That would be an unfair comparison.

But fine, for argumen...

Your comparison is better than mine.

I really don't understand what they are thinking. It's just a quick cash grab for their die hard fans and fans who expect to make money selling the consoles on ebay and craigslist when nintendo decides to limit quantities and make artificial demand.

Yeah this press conference changed nothing. I'm still anti nintendo

Yeah...no. fyi, here is the competition
Comparison in Canadian $

Nintendo switch - $399.99

Technically inferior
No game
No traditional controller
Paid subscription for an unknown network

Ps4 uncharted 4 bundle - $349.99
500gb
Technically superior
Uncharted 4 in box
Traditional controller with headset.
Paid subscription on a...

Nintendo is known to artificially create demand by purposely limiting stock. So when it comes back in Stock people eat it up, because they don't want to miss the opportunity.
It worked for them on the Wii. But failed on the wiiu.
I'm not buying their system. Sorry. I can't support that. I want them to learn another lesson and then go a different direction for the next console.

I'm surprised they didn't announce the actual price for the UK and Eu market. Maybe they are testing the waters?

3369d ago 0 agree0 disagreeView comment

A price drop on the same day as switch release would be a declaration of war (the official console wars)
