Sorry for the confusion, I meant mature as in something that an adult would appreciate on it's own merits.
Red Dead, COD and GTAIV are juvenile games,to a kid they might seem "Grown up" but to me they are childish and superficial.
Notice the games I've selected as "Mature" are less violent?
Violent games are geared toward teenagers.
Look at the contrast between say...
Good idea, I did that too but got back into it in my mid thirties due to the fact that TV and movies are basically unwatchable dross these days and games and hardware had finally pretty much caught up with my expectations.
Apart from reading, gaming is my only indoor leisure activity.
In my opinion:
Nier is a mature game, GTAIV isn't.
Borderlands is a mature game, Call Of Duty isn't
Red Faction Guerilla = Mature
Red Dead Redemption= Immature.
I'm probably even older than the author and I totally get what he's saying, there's no need to pull your punches in a mature rated game.
Take Dragon Age Origins, you want to have moments where you just go "No Way!" when one of your choices comes back t...
Ah yes incredible comrades, we to love Lulz be making of google translator, yes we do darlings!:
"Two Worlds II" makes fun night after night and is expected to become a Christmas Shit of 2010! Minor graphics errors are still negatively significant, but all in all, dominates the game fun - we expect that this will not be the end of "Two Worlds" saga - and that's good!"
I've regressed to my teens, I'm playing little else but platformers these days,I even went and bought the Sega genesis collection for 360.
I'm probably going to pass on New Vegas and Vanquish in favour of Super Meat Boy.
I think It's because I'm fed up with burning through these dumbed down games, shooters and such, a man needs a challenge and old school platformers are hard.
Hmmm..if this is anything like Bayonetta you're not necessarily going to get a high score by racing through the levels, time is one thing but accuracy and avoiding damage count too and from what I understand you're supposed to go ahead of your troops to protect them, you can bet that you'll get score modifiers for keeping them alive.
I played the demo and thought it was pretty cool but I'm not sure I'm paying $110 for it, especially now that the Australian dollar h...
I actually liked "Total Team Control" as a game mechanic, the problem was always the handling in those games, the cars had no proper feeling of weight and the centrifugal effect of the tracks was all wrong and the short tracks particularly were just excruciating.
I'm playing it at the moment, I think the dialogue and character interaction make it special.
The story is pretty dark in parts as well, bordering on Silent Hill levels of weirdness, the second half of the game is a lot more "adult" than the first.
The whole feel of Nier reminds me of FFXI,subdued and unhurried but with some really aggravating aspects, it takes forever to level up weapons for example.
It's a good game but the structure is pretty unforgiving which might put people off,I'm not talking about the handling but the way the game plays out you don't jump in a car and come first in every race even on easy. You start of with a Lotus or HRT and are tasked with qualifying in the top 20, which in the first few races is enough of a challenge.
The weather is fantastic, racing at Sepang in a torrential downpour is a blast.
It sounds a bit like The Club, fun for a couple of playthroughs but aggravating in the long term.
If Vanquish reminds me of anything it's Devil May Cry and Bayonetta, the demo has the same feel to it, totally over the top action, if it has the same depth and replay value as those games it'll be worth buying.
You hear obviously adult guys playing on XBL with little kids in the background, they're telling them to shut up and whatnot or to quit bothering them while they're gaming, it's just plain pathetic.
I don't go on XBL until my kids are in bed asleep, if I'm playing something offline, like an RPG I'll often have one of them sitting on my lap "Helping" and discussing what we should do next.
This is either going to be very tedious or a lot of fun and I think the size of the maps will make or break it, if you have the whole city to hunt in with 8 or 16 players it's going to be mighty frustrating, on the other hand if it's broken up a la GTAIV it could be a blast.
Anyone seen that movie Avalon?
Private match, you die in the game you die in real life, produced by the people who made the Akira anime if I'm not mistaken.
Shank is even better than Castle Crashers.
Now THAT would be cool, especially on Hardcore.
You mean like a game where you play as Koeverts hunting ANC terrorists in Botswana in the 1980's?
Or as the Rhodesian Army, or the LRA, Al Shabbab or Muslim Brotherhood?
I don't think you really need to ask why the COD games are all about White people butchering Muslims or worse, each other.
If you don't get it maybe you need to spend less time gaming and more time reading up on ethnic conflict models, propaganda and indoctrination.
There's a re...
There aren't many locations as such in the game but the rush, CTF and deathmatch maps based on the same locations are different.
The thing is with BFBC2 is that it has destructible environments so it's always interesting, the gameplay changes over the course of a match.
Plus I think I've only paid for one piece of DLC, the Co-op pack which was worth every MS point.
Free stuff to extend the life of the game=win.
Red Dead was a great game up to the point he crosses into Mexico, then it becomes an ugly, pointless rampage....also I couldn't get the multiplayer to work, in the 3 weeks I had the game I was only able to play 3 matches.
Ha! I was motoring along fine on the Elite handling model until the first challenge with the Elise as a loaner.
After four or five frustrating attempts I switched to casual with full assists just to get past that race.
It seems that Shift 2 has muffed (or possibly nerfed) the braking and weight transfer on some cars, the Corvette Z06 is fine, the Veyron feels like it's floating.
The Mustangs feel like big heavy cars, but
some of the other cars are pretty te...
