It's an OK shooter with nice graphics.
The ending is lousy and I pretty much did everything in about 16 hours.
I actually fell asleep during the Dead City boss battle in Rage, granted it was midnight and I was super tired from work but it was just such a mindless slug fest, the thing has like 3 animations.
Speaking of recent games Vanguard had some good boss battles, so did Lost Planet and Bayonetta
They did release it for the Xbox and PS2, but if I remember correctly there was no multiplayer, bot matches only.
Are you playing on PC or console?
I've installed it to my 360 and there's like half a second of pop in when you load a new area then it's a solid 60 frames throughout.
I do agree that up close some textures look muddy and it's got jaggies galore, but Doom3 had that shiny + jaggy look too..meh. it's a console, I don't expect miracles.

Say you take a side mission to retrieve something from the Ghost camp, you've been there before but when you go back some doors will be open and others locked so you get to see new things, things like that extend the playtime without appearing to backtrack.

The juvenile monkey business doesn't bother me so much,what aggravates me is when people don't talk but leave their mic on so we can all enjoy the sounds of their mother vacuuming, or their dog barking or the music they have on in the background.
Added bonus! 10-12 year old kids coming into a lobby and screeching "Why won't anyone talk to meeeee!" or sending you the "Can U Hack me 2 8th prestige?" texts.
I'd give it an 8.5, it's a pretty good game, the online is kinda fun too, though I only encountered four maps in Road Rage, there may be more but I didn't see them.
The rally modes are cool, the Carnage mode not so much.
The co-op works fine and it's nice that the missions flesh out the main story somewhat.
Dark Souls is an "instant classic" as they say, it'll still be played and talked about for years so I wouldn't worry about missing out.
From what I understand Rage has some unique multiplayer elements, which usually means in 3-6 months the community will dwindle as people drift back to C.O.D or other console Stalwarts, make the most of the game now and pick up DS at a later date.
Plus DS has been patched but there are still bugs, the camera goes nuts sometime...
We know what a Beta is but "we" are a small minority of "hardcore" gamers, the bulk of people who play video games don't, I think the Beta should have been restricted, it isn't a very good look in it's present form.
I'm not bagging twitch shooters it's just that you need room to move for them to be fun, ie to run and gun you actually have to be able to run around without getting stuck.
I mean when do soldiers sprint in urban combat anyway? Look at all those Iraq combat videos on youtube.
The sprint speed in BF3 is ridiculous, last match I played there was a sniper in the rock near the tunnel entrance.

The sound is amazing, the game not so much.
I played about three rounds on 360 last night and was not impressed.
Players screaming across the map at 60mph, falling into the world, getting stuck in the environment.
A twitch shooter doesn't work with cluttered environments.
I had the same opinion of the Medal Of Honour MP maps, too busy and hard to navigate for that fast style of run & gun gameplay.

I'm in Australia so at about 11PM saturday night I started having problems, I was Playing Test Drive Unlimited 2 and the races weren't loading.
I got sick of waiting and re booting, assumed it was an issue on their side and decided to play Gears 3 for a while. Same deal, it stalled at the front screen with the prompt for friends party formation rolling.
I went and had shower then decided to have one more go at Gears 3 before bed and after a pretty long search and load ...
Red Faction Armageddon was fun, I got sick of the infestation mode after a couple of days but it's a solid 8/10 game.
Gears King of the Hill mode is probably the most fun I've had in a while, as one player said in a match I played earlier today "We got some epic shit goin' on here".

Yeah Horde IS amazing, the turrets, decoys and sentry guns allow you to set up kill zones with just one or two players guarding the base, then everyone else can run back and forth.
I'm loving the retro Lancer, haven't quite figured out the bayonet charge yet though, is it hold B and point at enemy or is there something I'm missing?

Because they're better at it than me and spend more time practicing, so, whatever, good for them.
The campaign is good, it's a little bit too easy on regular difficulty that's all.
The Versus is better, I hated Gears 2 MP, I still get my backside kicked most rounds but I got two MVP ribbons last night which made me smile.
The trick is just to go with it, relax, don't get mad, don't worry about your K/D ratio, go into cover and scope out what's going on using the Tac com and mark targets instead of running about like a lunatic.

AC is pretty amazing, I've only done the first couple of missions, love Catwoman, Harley and the Penguin. The combat seems to have been tweaked a bit so you can more easily flick between enemies, it's the most intuitive third person battle system I've yet seen.
The whole game makes you think too, which after Rage is a nice change.
