My guess?
Bigger financial deals from console(platform) holders, much bigger audiance, less budget and less development time, and ofc little to no piracy.
Also according to some Pc players ive met on Steam Forums, Rockstar "hates" Pc gamers lol.

One is the game i will keep coming back to years from now....and the other is Shadow of the Tomb raider.

Which is the case with most checkerboard 4K vs Native 4K (IF it is native), unless you zoom in 600%.
I'm yet to see anything mindblowingly different, graphics wise from the games released in last 2-3 years.
This is a current gen game through and through.

Don't have specific games in mind,howevet I do have some fond memories of being 'wowed' by graphics from certain games:
From 1994-2005 Fallout 2, Diablo 2, Metal Gear Solid 2,Half Life.
Last gen MGS4,Crysis 3,Uncharted 2,The Last Of Us,Arkham Asylum, Red Dead Redemption,Killzone 2,God of War 3.
This gen Ryse Son of Rome, MGSV, Witcher 3, Horizon Zero Dawn, Uncharted 4,Order 1886,Battlefield 1 and ofc God Of Waaaar.
Without reading the article itself....Yes,here is why:
1)Helping the HW and SW sales of platform holders,which directly increases competition between platforms holders themselves which also brings in the need for innovation and raise in quality in games.
2)Optimization & development difficulty/time, development budget, marketing is much better when it is done for one platform.This is why we will likely not see games like Uncharted 4 or God of War with...
