In my opinion, this is the direct consequence of the previous generation's war. In early PS3/360 era, Sony's console released a full year after Microsoft's machine. A year where Microsoft had time to have its first exclusive games (Dead Rising, Crackdown, Saints Row, Condemned, PGR3, Dead or Alive 4, Prey, etc...), to convince people of their XBL features and to have a head start.
When PS3 released, let's admit it, it didn't start very well. The console wa...
Well, actually the 1983 video game industry crash was not caused by a single game, but this game in particular was the symbol of that failure.
In the 70's, video games were being increasingly popular thanks to the success of games like Pong, Space Invaders or Pac-Man. Many manufacturers saw there a way to get easy profits. Thus, they started creating their own consoles and developing their own games, and due to a lack of control, it was pretty easy to copy or clone a succ...
Talking about forgotten exclusives, many people cite Agent, but I'm surprised no one talks about the Cellius games.
In 2007, Sony and Namco Bandai announced a partnership called Cellius, an initiative to bring exclusive games to the PS3 that would fully exploit the CELL processor with Ken Kutaragi as CEO.
Three games were announced: Second Second 01 (FPS), Brave Arms (beat'em all) and Chain Limit (QTE adventure game). We even had screenshots thank to ...
I totally agree with your blog post. Whoever you are, a mere PS3 player that already have played The Last of Us or a random newcomer, bringing TLOU to PS4 isn't that bad. Sure, people who already played the PS3 version will find it overpriced for a simple glorified port, but honestly, TLOU is such a great game, I prefer people paying 60$ for a port of a GOTY game rather than 60$ for a FIFA game (and TLOU:R also includes the DLCs).
However, I am afraid of the message it wi...
As far as I remember, Big Boss meets Gray Fox in MGS Portable Ops, and considering MGS Peace Walker (where Chico appears for the first time in the series) is set after Portable Ops, I seriously doubt Chico can be Gray Fox.
However, it doesn't mean Chico can't be one of the main characters of the series...
I honestly can't understand why David Hayter can't have the right to do a video game movie while he-who-must-not-be-named can. I mean, his only existence pisses buckets of people off. He can't make any good video game adaptation, nor any good film.
How can anyone let him produce movies and not put him in jail for his crimes?
I remember when the Silent Hill movie released, gamers were saying it was a good adaptation, it was finally faithful to the ...
It seems the official Facebook and Twitter accounts didn't have any update since early January...

Don't know if it means anything or if it's just a coincidence.
In my opinion, the main problem with portable consoles is that they are not enough gaming-oriented, too much multimedia-oriented.
For example, 3DS has 3 cameras; Playstation Vita has 2 ones. Why? There are barely any augmented reality games while it could have been "a thing". And I honestly doubt many people use them as an actual camera.
Consoles these days cost too much and have too much pointless features. Portable consoles would certainly cost le...
Yeah, definitely. In motherland, there is a movie called "La vie d'Adèle", known in english as "Blue is the Warmest Colour". I was quite surprised the movie was only rated -12 (the french equivalent of "T for Teen") while the movie shows explicit lesbian sex scene.
Meanwhile, in the video game industry "OMG, No More Heroes has red pixels for blood, we will turn it black", "OMG that chibi character has something we may defi...
I can understand why the made the characters older to justify their sex appeal, but if the characters are older, why cover them up?
I mean, they edited the game because it is wrong to have sexualized underage characters. Fine. So the problem is either they are sexualized, either they are underage. They made the characters older, so they are no longer underage. What's wrong with them being sexualized, then? Why editing their clothes if they are no longer underage?

Somehow, I feel it more like a Minecraft-related announcement. Like... Y'know... coal.
@pedrof93 In 1997, Koei released a fighting game called Sangoku Musou in Japan, which was called Dynasty Warriors in the West.
Then, in 2000, they released a spin-off called Shin Sangoku Musou, which was translated as Dynasty Warriors 2 in the West. Shin Sangoku Musou 2 was then called Dynasty Warriors 3, Shin Sangoku Musou 3 was called Dynasty Warriors 4, etc...
It's all because Japan considered Shin Sangoku Musou as a spin-off for Sangoku Musou, while U...
I do agree with you, if I have games for a console, then it means I have that console, so I see no point to require backward compability on a newer console, unless this backward compability can provide a very significant overhaul or unless the consoles break.
However, I wouldn't be surprised if publishers would try to benefit with that lack of backward compatibility, releasing some kind of "super HD" version of PS3 / Xbox 360 games on PS4 / Xbox One consoles. So...
I don't think the number of platforms is the biggest problem. Nowadays, we have Nintendo, Sony, Microsoft and the PC market. In 1983, the PC market wasn't unified, you had Texas Instruments, Atari, Radioshack, Commodore,... All had its own platform. In parallel, you had many other consoles, like Atari 2600, Colecovision, Vectrex, Odyssey², G7000, Intellivision,...
All that in barely 6-7 years.
You didn't have any sort of quality or publishing control ...
This is why I didn't jump in the hype-train. There was the same hype for GTA IV, "the best game in the world", etc... I blindly bought it because I loved GTA III / Vice City / San Andreas, and I felt extremely disappointed by the game.
So GTA V may be great, surely, but does it deserve so much 10/10 and an average score of 97/100? I don't know, and I'll wait a bunch of weeks / months, when everyone will have some recoil and say what's right and wrong...
Since the closure of Sony Liverpool, my hopes to see a new Team Buddies game vanished. If Sony indeed revives Psygnosis studio, then I can only be glad about it, even though I know Team Buddies may never come back.
Well, I read the original interview (I'm French, btw) and what David Cage says isn't quite what is stated in the article.
"Question: Technically, what did change between both titles (Heavy Rain and Beyond: Two Souls)?
Answer: Everything. There is a new graphics engine, inspired by our parallel projects on Playstation 4."
So this only confirms Quantic Dream are working on stuff for PS4 (and we already know that since ages), it doesn...
As far as I remember, Gravity Rush was developed by Project Siren team (the guys behind Forbidden Siren games), while The Last Guardian is being developed by Team Ico. Both teams belong to Sony Japan Studios, but I don't think the work of one can affect the work of the other team.
Well, I'm probably the only one that cares about it, but... Katamari! W00t!!!
"1. Platform holders set digital prices"
Surely platform holders don't set digital prices, but I'm pretty sure they can have their word on it. I remember few years ago when Braid released on Xbox 360, a premium Braid theme released on the Marketplace.
