All of that DRM stuff aside the thing that I really take exception to is the online check in nonsense.. I personally believe that this policy is an effort to force people to buy live so they can have 100% Live subscription. Its all about profit.. I bet sony spent the time between the XBONE reveal and E3 to nail down the design and start manufacturing.. Knowing what the competition had and realizing they were ahead spec wise they could take advantage of that time and start getting enough units built for the launch..
Launch 60gig with motorstorm, resistance and a few months later I bought warhawk and barely played anything but for the next year... Some of my fondest gaming memories.. Love my PS3!

@bitbydeath The ps4 has Unified GDDR5 architecture. This setup places both the cpu and gpu directly on the motherboard with short pathways from them to the ram. If im not mistaken I remember reading that the PS4 architecture uses a mother die/daughter die setup that creates a high bandwidth low latency architecture.. Sony designed the ps4 about as well as they could have for the money.. Its going to be interesting to see just how much of a difference this decision will make.

@b-real THE most successful game company in history is exactly who you want to take notes from. Sony has the two best selling consoles of ALL TIME in the ps2 and ps1 respectively. Not to mention the playstation division is in the black and has been for a while now... Just because they don't nickel and dime their consumers to death in order to make their financial reports look stellar doesn't negate their importance to the games industry as a whole.

I never owned the original XBOX mainly due to my disdain for Microsoft so I cannot comment on that system. I do own both a PS3 and 360 however, and I didn't purchase my 360 until this past Christmas.. Don't forget that Sony dabbled in "distributed" computing with the folding at home app on the ps3 and it was successful. I would be willing to bet that Sony has more then enough proverbial "dirt under the nails" experience in regards to cloud computing. Heck they're rolling out gaikai which is cloud gaming. Surely the leap to cloud computing wouldn't be so great..
