What's worse is that every COD gets a pass, TitanFall gets a pass, Destiny gets a pass. In destiny's case the lack of content and aggressive monetization were egregious. Titanfall was visually underwhelming and multiplayer only for $60. Those games are fun no doubt, but their treatment compared to The Order is just incongruous. Similar to how everyone jumped the gun on Driveclub and torched it, then realized it was a super solid track racer. It makes one think...
I was just thinking the same thing. Video games are 'art', but a fantastic story with fantastic presentation is crapped on for not reinventing TPS mechanics.
The widespread criticism across the internet is mostly by those who have not played the game, and instead regurgitate the same shit said by reviewers. It's disheartening because I respect the devs who worked on this game and commend them for delivering exactly what they promised and advertised. I hope this wave of hate doesnt derail the studio or the series :(

i would never buy the vita slim, how do you downgrade the screen on a handheld??? After seeing the OLED screen there is no going back. The thing has no glare and a 180 degree viewing angle its pretty impressive.
I have wanted a vita since launch but i hadn't found it for the right price until a few days ago. It is absolutely class! I remember playing my psp, dreaming about games like rayman and uncharted on the go. Totally worth it and that OLED screen is flawless.

Its not a notion its reality. The demographic for hardcore gamers who play multiple hours a night is oveewhemingly male. Not to say that should exclude women from joining this demographic, but noticing that the majority of women only play mobile games is not a sexist imagination, its observing reality.
Yeah if you look at the ucla studies on incoming freshman,hardcore gamers or gamers who play about 2 hours per day are overwhemingly male. So the 'industry' as the author refers to it is of course appealing to male gamers because that is there core audience.
The gameplay mechanics are very strong, yes, but still very simple. I would liken it to COD's gameplay mechanics being some of the best in the fps genre, but the way they are implemented is very simple and very straightforward. Compare it to a game like shadow of mordor, where the amount of gameplay mechanics and experiences combing is almost overwhelming at first, but is ultimately more satisfying.
What has happened? Nothing.
