I can't wait for Gears 5 and I'm a huge fan fan of the series. It has been the sole reason for me to even have an Xbox but this is a stretch.
I'm going to love this and it'll probably end up being one of my favourite games this year but it is no game of the year potential

Aww man since I imported Demon Souls from Play Asia because there was no Western release confirmed at the time. Absolutely adore the series.
While i believe you have a point I'm an exception to the rule. I played Demons Souls first but my favourite is the 1st Dark Souls because it was the first one to create the interconnected world.
Which I realise was a trade off for Demons world tendencies but I liked discovering new paths to the same locations
The people who bother making an ordeal of this kind of thing are same people who cry over being asked if they a boys or a girls balloon in a pound shop.

I actually forgot about Double Fine. Compulsion were supposed to be making Xbox exclusives long and ever ago. I was in the Irish head office for Microsoft and they were touting We Happy Few to be the next big thing. It was going to change how we think about games and it was going to be incredible. Only on Xbox.

Of 8 acquired studios only 2 didn't already make Xbox games exclusively anyway. It'll be years before we see any thing of their projects. We were promised a focus on games many years ago and here we are coming to the end of a generation with only 1 Xbox Game/studio getting universal acclaim. How could you NOT know what I'm talking about!

There's plenty of room for both. Resident Evil 2 was one of the best games this year, Medievil remake is getting plenty of buzz, Spyro trilogy, Crash Trilogy and Crash team racing, All have done incredibly well and are great games.
However I get your point and somewhat agree with you, because Microsoft are faltering on both sides. I think most would just accept new content in any form at this stage though
The engine is made and the foundations are set because it's a remake. There really shouldn't be a lot of time needed to get it right.

Silent Hill remains one of the best game titles out there to go deep diving into the lore for. It's fascinating and twisted
Bethesda didn't adapt and are now getting left behind. The elder scrolls and Fallout were bug riddled messes last gen but they got away with it because of the games focus and charm. Bethesda tried to ride that out for another entire generation and it's biting them in the ads deservedly. They've been far too lazy for too long
I'd say Insomniac learned a lot about themselves over recent years too. They tried Mulitplatform development with Fuse. It didn't go well.
They went to the competition and made an exclusive there. It was a great game but it didn't do well commercially.
They returned to Sony and were given the keys to a huge property and it was a massive success.
Guess they'll stick to Sony now where it goes well for them
