While I don't think playing games like Zedla, Mario, Metroid, etc. is kiddy, Nintendo does tend to market itself more to children.
Most games are fairly immature though, adding blood and sex doesn't make a game mature, adult themes that wouldn't be understood by children do and that rarely occurs in games.
For a person with a launch PS3, this makes me happy. Always worried my PS3 could go at any time so a cheap one is a good thing. I could just put my old harddrve in it and continue gaming without losing any data.
To the masses the $100 price point is the deciding factor. And to more dedicated gamers, cheaper with more power is enticing considering that 95% of the most popular games are multiplats.
Biggest launch games will probably be Watch Dogs, BF4 and COD. For all the people interested in any of those games there's no point choosing Xone over PS4.
Majority of people prefer to purchase the product that doesn't force them to pay for some gimmicky device. Big surprise there.
Why is everything Xone related gigantic?
Ill let the beta testers work out the kinks of launch units and get mine a little later after I'm done with GTA, Beyond and any remaining quality current gen game for probably 10bucks.
Who has time to pass GTA I'm 2-3 days. Tell me your secret to life success because work does not allow for that.
I can't believe people are disagreeing with this. MS lost billions on RROD and Sony spent billions on cell and had free online. Both initially sold at a loss and it costs a lot more money maintaining and upgrading and online infrastructure compared to PS2 day.
The fact that initially they weren't going to include the headset just shows how far MS has fallen from the 360 release days.
They gone 2 steps back, one forward the entire time with Xone
MS had it pretty easy most of the gen. They released the most faulty console and perhaps consumer electronic device in history and replaced them with equally faulty units but somehow managed to flourish.
Not to mention extremely over priced peripherals, blatant lies about Kinect abilities and failing to produce a single successful new exclusive IP.
How about know one knows yet because it currently is undetermined.
No one knows who will win, Sony's out in front but it's a long race not a sprint. That being said, I'm getting PS4 come launch.
I expect MS will have to release a more price competitive skew to compete long term.
I didn't think this gen games looked that impressive until Gears came out. R6Vegas and Ghost Recon looked very good but not mind blowing. By the time Mass Effect and Uncharted 2 came out I was blown away.
For most SP centric games I think it should be a must not have. Put the resources towards the SP. Most people just check out the Mp because it's there then go back to playing the popular tittles like BF, COD, Halo, Sports games, etc.
I really wish I read that over, not because of I don't fully stand behind what I said but because the "you" instead of "you're" and "your" makes me cringe at an otherwise accurate statement imo.
Nolan Bushnell and Ralph H. Baer may be the father of video games and consoles but people wouldn't take their opinions on success in the next-gen very seriously.
Is Carmack a legend? Yes. Does he know how to make great games ...
Knack always looked very unappealing to me.
And "unappealing" is a major euphemism, more like every aspect from gameplay to story and graphics looked like shit since it's reveal in February and it hasn't improved one bit.
Great list. I do all of those and it really detracts from the enjoyment of games.
I still remember hoarding all my mini-nukes in Fallout, you know for something really tough, then never even ended up using them.
Same with online MP too, with full-time work (and overtime) and life I only have time to play games at most 5 hours a week so I always start off doing reasonably well in MP then after a few months get smoked every match, which turns me off of the MP...
I know Carmack is highly respected but the guy didn't come close to top graphics this gen nor did he release a single great game.
You only as relevant as you games imo.
Only if they plan on giving it away for free to current Wii U owners.
Kidding aside, Nintendo would burn its most loyal followers (current Wii U owners - you have to be to have bought it with no AAA games out yet) if they released new hardware now or within the next 3-4 years.
I do think Wii U will definitely have the tradition 5 year console life span.
That list forgot the most important thing. Turn indicators when driving to a destination so you don't spend the whole drive staring out the mini-map.
It's nice being able to look around the environment when driving instead of just the minimap.

Still can't believe MS doesn't allow you to use Netflix without first paying for Live Gold.
