That's ridiculous , you're saying consoles died after Snes and Genesis as everything after has been to do so much more then just dedicated gaming like play Cds ,Dvd, Blu rays, browse online and streaming and much more. I see Switch as a successor to gameboy and 3ds , yes a handheld console but not home console where people are now diluting the two .

Oh now people wanna consider it a console , never once during ps4/xbone was switch ever brought in console discussion and now it's a apart of the fold ?! . It's a gaming platform but it's not a console and who said anything about a favorite platform when there's not much of a choice in the space
If there's only one real player in the console space then yes consoles as a platform are dying ( I don't consider Switch as a true console) . Nintendo pulled out of it after WiiU , MS has been pulling out of it this gen . If Ps3/360/wii contributed to 272 consoles sold that gen, Ps4/Xbone/WiiU all together roughly sold 158 units and Ps5/Xb Series together currently sit around 115 sold how can you not consider it a dying platform. I honestly can't see people rushing out to get a ps...
SMB movie made almost a billion and a half on a 100 mil budget , I'm sure Zelda if done right will make even more as it has a wider appeal . Easy money if they put a N branded quality movie every few years . Hopefully we'll eventually get a Metroid movie.
Just because they've been confirmed them doesn't mean they won't run poorly is what i'm saying or heavily downgraded , there's been reports ER is having performance issues on S2 and it's nowhere as demanding as rebirth let alone part 3 which is gonna be an even more massive game
Ps4 game playing on modern hardware .. nothing crazy , epic set pieces but mainly corridors so I believe to one extent or another S2 can handle it just fine . Rebirth is where I get skeptical , it was one of the few games I actually chose graphics instead of performance because of how muddied it looked on ps5 , just have to wonder how much S2 version will have to sacrifice .
My problem with how it is now is all the preorder clutter when you do Newest to Oldest , you can sort it by just released and coming soon but then you only get the new releases for the past month .
@ravens52 i didn't say those games are shaking up the industrial , I said GoY isn't specifically. The other games are just more highly rated and had better hype.
Oh we all know E33 is game of the year lol with like Death Stranding 2, Hades 2, Silksong and DKB and maybe even Blue Prince in the running , I'm sure GoY is a well made and polished game but it's not shaking up the industry .
@peppeaccardo haven't tried it but I assume most people that have invested into SC aren't really there for some arbitrary campaign component . It's a online space simulation first and foremost where people can play around in and not for people just wanna play the story and never touch it again . Some of the best games I've played I played years before some "official release" , unlike the past developers aren't constrained to released products in a set time frame ...
I feel they've done great with the story considering all the other FF7 media there is and how they incorporated it in and expanded the world and lore in more ways I could imagine . All that stuff is canon and would've been a waste to disregard them or leave Yuffie or Vincent as optional characters even though they weren't originally supposed to be so . The og7 is still canon in these games so I can enjoy 7r games for what they are . It's kinda like the rebuiild movies with Eva...
@Fishy Fingers Switch is not a console ... it's a handheld just like the Rog and Steamdeck , it has its own screen and controllers built into it . Nintendo dropped out of the console space after the Wii U . If PS does release a handheld version of PS6 alongside the regular ps6 would you still consider the handheld a console too?
ya then they'll sell a next gen upgrade for an extra $10 or $20 or a whole other next gen version for ps6 and ps7 10 years from now
I hope they leave it open ended and tell a completely different story , since there are "writers" maybe they can create worlds inside of books .. or even a musician aspect to it
I might buy 2 maybe 3 full priced games a year and find another few discounted games sprinkled in between but I usually tend to play RPGs which tend to take 1-3 months to get through . I also have my forever games for when I there's nothing I'm interested in atm like Metal Gear Online 3 or sub to FFxiv for a month here or there

I just don't think that's a deterrent for anyone going into that PC space , it's probably that last thing considered when making a purchase. With rising costs with consoles and services associated with them , the barrier to entry is lessened when picking either/or . I wouldn't be surprised if ps6 is $1000, PS+ essential rises to $100 a yr and games become $80 standard by next gen. But since you brought it up Pc gaming is pretty big especially in the past 10 years , most of the younger generations would rather have a gaming PC then a console . Pc gaming argument about pricing is going the wayside with more gaming PC handhelds coming to the market introducing new ways to play with a reasonable price points .

"Back in my day" I had to judge a book by it's cover weather it be by chilling at the bookstore or supermarket flippin thru magazines or hanging at BlockBuster or Hollywood video for hours indecisively trying to pick a game to rent because of which game had cooler box art .

It's why I still love Final Fantasy and Fromsoft games !! Every Soulstype FS puts out feels new and fresh but oddly familiar and all the worlds they create have a unique structure and feel to them while adding new systems , Dark Souls 1, 2 and 3 are vastly different from each other.
