I think most people buy PS for the hardware and 3rd party support which has been the case as far back as the ps1 . Their 1st party games are alright but I doubt it's the main factor for why they're successful unlike Nintendo which are fully reliant on their 1st party titles . Also alot of the people on Ps5 are just pre-existing users that just upgraded from Ps4 , probably upwards of 70-80%. Sony can sell a buttload of consoles but I don't think Individual user growth is very significant , alot of the ps5 or console base are more casual and less likely to invest in the hobby beyond CoD or sports titles while PC gamers are more committed to the hobby. With XB presumably pulling out of the console space , even if Ps6 sells 100mil it doesn't equate to the comb...
It's good for people who still want that console like experience but more open ended and you don't have to pay to play online . Steam also has way more games then PSN and alot more games get released earlier on PC then consoles . Just because they don't do conventional naming practices doesn't me they're not a sequels of sort, sequels can totally reiterate and advance on what came before without rewriting the script . Except PS no console has ever had numbered successors . Nintendo always creates something then tries to advance it ... then moves on to something new ,it's clear as day and if you can't see what I'm talking about then I don't know what else to say lol
Same but i respect it since they've tried to put out something new at least every year or 2 unlike most other companies, it's relatively a cheap game by today's standards and sure to get plenty of hours out of it . I'm more of a character building and pvp guy so I passed .
It's good for them to put out lesser budget games to experiment with and also give new directors a chance to cook . Games like BB and Sekiro are what helped FS try new features that were implemented into DS3 and ER. Hopefully games like ER:NR and Duskbloods will help them with their shoddy netcode and improved MP experience lol . It's also way to early for another souls type game . It's better then company's that put out a game every 10 years and turns out to be crap
Standard Nintendo practice ... Nes>Snes , Wii>WiiU , GB>GBA, DS>3DS and N64>GC ( Different name but basically an ungraded version of N64 , improved 3d capability, controller layout and 4 ports ) , S>S2 .
Oh I've learned my lesson ... I know full well Take-two along with other companies like Sony will double dip everything being put out the next couple years .Wouldn't be surprised if these companies already have next gen versions ready to sell for $80 or $10/$20 upgrade . It's alright, I don't mind waiting a year or 2 to play the better versions nowadays
Might as well wait for the Ps6/Pc versions , Gta6 will only be a year out by then (or sooner now) . My favorite console gen , people tend to forget the SOE existed and had DCUO ,Everquest, SWG and Planetside . They were doing live service before live service was a thing . I played and was subbed to DCUO for like 5 years before SOE was sold off and the game kinda fell off for me , it was and is one of the funnest games I've ever played and experienced though , still always in the top downloads list on PSN . It's a shame as PS modeled a lot of what they are now from XB , PS just made their ideas consumer friendly. Now I feel Sony is sitting on their laurels without competition and that's bad for the console industry all together.
LittleBigPlanet is the biggest lost potential Sony had with live service , between costumes, building materials , dlc levels there was money to be made, i know I bought most of the dlcs . Give me a modern game with a fresh servers I'd jump back in. Warhawk was so fun , if I could still play it I still would and be in my forever game list same with KZ2
I don't get why all the disagrees except this site are like 90% Sony loyalists , mention PC or xbox... blasphemy . The moment they bought ABK they basically became a 3rd party publisher whether they liked it or not , even without them they've put out more games this gen then Sony even if the games aren't they greatest . PS has mostly MS games as best sellers while Sony themselves have like 2 in the top 50 and like 5 in the top 100
Optimized doesn't really mean better or the best version or experience you can have though . I'm ready to get into PC gaming again soon as I really don't want to play most new games on my base PS5, having to choose between gfx and performance is such a drag as choosing either/or is a hindered experience and I've felt it for some time now . I could waste money on a Pro or timegate myself till the ps6 comes out but I think I'm gonna step into the future now.
Gonna splurge on one when black Friday sales hit :)

If Switch 2 can somewhat handle most modern games then Sony can surely handle a new portable with ease that's integrated and bc into the ps4/5/6 ecosystem . I highly doubt ps6 is gonna push the bounds what gaming is already capable of let alone most developers but more so how we play our games (I think tech has mastered the art of peachfuzz by now lol) . With that said technology is exponentially getting smaller and more efficient that the power of a console and handheld is gonna get blur...
The thing with ps2 is you only could play ps2 games on ps2 unless you had a OG phat ps3 but those were phased out quick or suffered from YLoD . Now that all consoles are suped up versions of what came before and have BC it'll be a less enticing for alot of people to pick up a S1 over a S2 . Also the ps2 was 150 bucks when ps3 released at $500/600, dvds were sticking rocking and had a library of almost roughly 11k games. Pretty sure a big contributor is the fact both were bundled with the console at some point , I personally got the ps5 bundle because it was the only ps5 I could get when there were shortages . They gave away the first game on ps+ for initial ps5 adopters for the first year or 2 .
