The same can be said about Microsoft and Nintendo. The Wii U is already out and Microsoft said awhile ago bring it on with a countdown to E3.

They have to do something. Sony has managed to vastly improve its network, all while being free. They have also managed to make Plus into a service that really supports the free core plan and showing true value upfront. Nintendo has also come a long ways and they too offer free online play. Steam as well.

Anyone who thinks they will drop the Live fee next gen. is sadly mistaken. Microsoft will continue to try and integrate it's own features like cross-voice chat and Kinect voice and motion controls into all of these apps to cloud the reason why playing online multiplayer games will also continue to have a Gold fee attached to it.

Ask yourself this, who forced Sony's hand to charge consumers $500-$600 for a game console? Nobody. They had control of the market and that price left a bad taste in peoples mouth. Yes it still offered great value but it was not as affordable as previous generations of Playstation consoles.

I own Heavenly Sword but to be honest it's not worth $60. I bought it used for $20 or so, can't remember it was awhile ago but I still have it. Whatever the case it's not looking too good going forward for multiplat gaming. I imagine the new Xbox, the PS4, and the new Steambox won't have issues running the game at 60fps. Which means the Wii U will mainly attract people looking for Gamepad experiences and exclusives. So unless 3rd party publishers can somehow make the Gamepad a lot more fun to use the Wii U will rely mainly on its exclusives. Those 3rd party exclusives will not be in large supply either I imagine.
