by that do you mean completely remove the ability to be able to search for exactly what typr of game you want to play? on pc you can specify what you want by map, amount of players, ping, rank etc etc, thats one of its key strenghs over halo.
PC FPS offers you so much more freedom to improve also, you can have hot keys for example, or the mouse sensitivity can be increased to allow me to jump from BOOM HEADSHOT to BOOM HEADSHOT rather than BOOM HEADSHOT (move stick left wait a bit.... ...

im currently building 2 pc's for friends and was going to go for the 8800gts as they are on a bit of a budget but this card sounds very tempting.
probably would of had more chance had you started coding at 10. problem now is by the time you learn one thing its already out dated. still, i wish you all the best with your dreams and aspirations.

well not yet anyway. if have played around with things that feature dx10 support (bioshock and the like), and i have not notice any dematic difference apart from the massive FPS drop i get from dx9.
obviously we'll have to wait for something like CRYSIS to really tell as the developers built the game from the start with dx10 in mind so this will be the first game to really show whats possible. i personally, even after spending a small fortune to build my pc for dx10, think it was orgin...
which i was completely happy about paying, but with the new price drop coming taking it down to £299 it would be nice if sony allowed current ps3 owners in on this offer. 5 free movies is always a good thing.
also heres a neat idea... if your thinking about buying a ps3 but £299 is still a bit much for you, you could always stick the 5 free movies on ebay for £10 each and then you've basically got a ps3 for £250, now if that isnt a bargin i dont know what is...
ill be intersted to see what these actually sell for at release and wether it has any effect on the price of the current 8800 models, namely the GTS.
im not sure where people get the idea pc gaming is so expencive ($5000), obviously you can go crazy and spend that sort of money but it would be a complete waste. just means insteed of 100fps you'd be getting 500fps which makes no difference.
yeah i think ill wait to see some proper bentchmarks in a real pc rather than estimates. still, its gonna have to be quite alot better than my 8800ultra for me to think about changing again.
edit @ Fanboi, i was thinking the same thing, still you know nvidia well beleed as much out of us with this chipset before upgrading. also they might be waiting to see what ATI might come out with as rumour has it they're doing some very interesting stuff, which is good after the flop that...

i said $1800 for a start not $1500. also ive built that from the prices here in the UK, generally computer components work out even cheaper in the US. in fact ive even mail ordered parts from the US for the sole reason that even with postage im still saving money.

what do you people want??? if you download a 1gig demo it take about 1 sec per percentage, that equals a complete install time of 1 minute 40 seconds, not really the end of the world is it...
Some people expect far far to much from their consoles wiether it ps3 or 360, maybe some havent owned a pc before but as consoles nbecome more and more like them component and OS wise you have to deal with PC type issues such as installing to your hard-drive.
