Yeah, exactly my point and I like the idea of both taking different routes as well. We might actually have a choice as to what type of experience we want out of our consoles.
I'll probably end up picking up both, of course depending on what Microsoft shows off at E3.

I'm not a fanboy or anything like that, but I'm going to straight up defend sony on this one. I bought a Vita about a month after it's release and it didn't really have much that I was interested in. I bought it for LBP and that was amazing. From that point on, I knew the vita was going to be an amazing mobile device for games.
And now great games are starting emerge such as Soul Sacrifice, Persona 4, Metal Gear Solid HD versions, Rayman Origins and so on. So ...
I think this article does a good job of not leaning toward one side or the other and helps me realize a great point.

I've always loved dark ambient music when roaming around and have it pick up when game action picks up.

Honestly man, the less audio there is, the more unnerving a horror game can be. But at the same time, it can feel empty and hollow. Although, sometimes, that's exactly what the creator may want the player to feel.
A day night cycle is pretty awesome. Not to mention, the lighting looks really nice. And if you guys know anything about real-time rendering or 3d modeling, lighting is very important in terms of quality of visuals. The better the lighting, the more realistic look the developers can achieve.
Give the United States a monster hunter game on the vita. Nuff' said.

A game doesn't need to be beautiful to be fun. Some companies feel they need to push the boundaries of what we think is possible, which is pretty cool, but take the Crysis series for example. The games are very beautiful, but for me personally, the games seem hollow.
It's like opening the big present christmas morning, only to find a smaller box inside that holds an I.O.U inside that reads,"Sorry there's not much here, but there might be more next year!"...

As for the psn not being updated, it's a little annoying as I'm most of us were anxiously waiting for the Soul Sacrifice Demo. Normally I wouldn't really care, but this is a pretty big title for the vita and to have a demo that transfers over all saved data to the actual game, people want to play the heck out of it... Just saying.

I'm pretty excited about Dark Souls II. Not because Dark Souls was super amazing or anything like that, but because I can't wait to get that feeling...that feeling you get when you realize, "Wow, the game begins here?! Are you serious?! But I've been struggling for hours upon hours!"
When I played Dark Souls and got past the tutorial, I was like..man, that was tough( the first time), not knowing the game was going to get so much more intense.

I'm pretty excited about this announcement. I mean, there's only two games I'm looking forward to this year. This and GTA V. I hope we get to see a hint or two at different areas, and possibly some game play. I just hope we get to see something man.

I'd love to see like...more diversity. I know some years of the same make are better than others, but to have 100 nissans that look pretty similar is just a bit much.
Lol people like me? I buy consoles because I'm a developer myself and like to keep up with what others are doing. Sure, I could read about about these games or watch videos about them, but I like to feel the emotions the developers are trying to portray towards the player and you just don't get that from reading or watching.
And what that has to do with Apple is beyond me. Also, do you really care that I pay X amount of dollars for these things? If I can pay for them,...
