While I enjoyed a lot of the games, I noticed a trend I'm not really a fan of. I'm one of those gamers that grew up with the SNES and went on from there. I did play NES, but not nearly as much as the super nintendo. Difficulty is something I dearly love. But as this generation went on, games got easier, more straight forward. Obviously, there were some games that brought on the difficult full force and other games where you could do almost anything you wanted within the game. But, the...
Honestly, I was a console gamer up until a few years ago. Once I saw how much better PC games were over console games, I was hooked. They run faster, smoother, and can be modded depending on the game.
But on the flip side, the new consoles are about half the price of a high end PC and those people won't have to worry about upgrading hardware to keep up with the increasing graphical improvements of the games as time passes.
Although it appears to be a slight difference in my example, when playing games, it can enhance game play by not only allowing smoother visuals, but lessen input lag.
KrisButtar, it can be difficult to see the difference if you don't know what you're looking for. Basically, the top square thing stutters slightly, the second a little less, and the third has little to no stuttering. Look at the bottom square for a little bit, then look at the bottom square and you should be able to notice the change in fps.
I'm not saying 30fps is bad by any means. It's a playable frame rate, but until you've seen a game played at 60fps, you don't know what you're missing.
Here's an example: Left side is 60fps and right is 30fps. http://i.minus.com/iKuvI6ja...
Also, the necessity of a higher fps really depends on the game. I'd say 3rd and 1st person games could benefit from 60 fps, w...
Honestly, who cares what side this person is on. Personally, I could care less if one console can play games in 1080p and the other can't. It's not a dictating factor for myself to buy one console over the other and if it is, you may want to take a look at your priorities.
I'm not sure why you care so much about what people think, but seriously man, it's the internet. I've been comparing pc to consoles for years. It happened last gen and it's going to...
I find that 30fps is definitely playable. I mean almost all of the last gen console games were run at 30fps and hey, it worked. 60fps just feels like, I don't know, a premium service for pc gamers.
Now that these new consoles are going to have a huge increase in ram and new awesome GPU's, I'd like to think that the developers can pull off awesome graphics with a better frame rate. If not now, hopefully we'll see that down the line once the game developers unle...
If phones had the ability to allow controllers to be plugged into it and use that as input, then we might be getting somewhere.
Obviously, there are other issues like ram and battery life, but look at the DS or the Vita. We play those and they only have limited battery life. I think it's possible, but not now.
When I think of a phone, I think of something that I can use to communicate, something I can use to waste time. It's not something I think abo...
Yeah, but it's nice to dream once in a while right?
I'd love to see some Jersey Devil, Tony Hawk, Alundra 2, Driver, GT2, and Croc. :D That would be amazing if any of those showed up.
OH, and why not Tomba 2 while we're at it. lol
All they care about is money. I hope Sony denies them and then they want to go back to Microsoft, but MS denies them too. Then they really have to beg and plead just to get their games on a console. Once they lose some money, maybe then they'll realize how terrible they've been to all the customers over the years.
I mean, 2 worst company in the U.S. awards apparently weren't big enough hints..
The title of this article was oddly written, but that's beside the point. Honestly, I don't think the game itself will matter, but rather the things the game did well will. Other devs are going to want to try the same things Rockstar and Take Two did to make their game even better.
Who knows, maybe Ubisoft saw something GTA V did that was so awesome they needed to put it in their game too. =P
I remember trying to beat the Master Onion level in Parappa the Rappa for the 1000th time only to get to the next level and fail even more.
This is why I play the Souls games. You have to at least attempt to learn something to progress...
Well yeah, it's in the monitor, but I was more referring to my inference that only soon to be released GPU's would be able to sync to the monitor. ( which I should have stated previousy, my bad )
If it's done with software rather than hardware, then any(Nvidia) GPU can be used to sync to the monitor which is awesome.
My only question then is, when is Nvidia going to partner with different television making companies like Vizio or LG or are they go...
I agree with everything you had to say. It looked amazing, but for me, it just didn't give me enough to do. And although the game gave me quite a few actions in each scenario for the most part, it felt like what I did actually didn't matter.
A year ago, I remember one of the lead designers talking about the game. He simply said, "This is a game you should play once. Live with the consequences of your decisions and move on." Now, I completely agree with this ...
I've never played it, but absolutely loved Lost Odyssey. That game is probably my favorite RPG this generation. Just an absolute amazing game.
Speaking of unplayable, Rage on the PS3 was practically unplayable for me. Never before has a game's screen tearing and object/texture poppin annoyed me so much. I just couldn't stand it! So I sold that version and used that money to buy a PC version and never had the problem again. I'm not normally a PC kinda guy when it comes to games, but I seriously had no other option if I wanted to play the game and actually enjoy it.
This new technology is going to be extremely expensive for any average person to even consider buying until it becomes a standard thing. Until high end GPU's today are the "standard" pc 4-5 years from now, It's going to be something people want but can't afford.
Speaking of games that made you far too powerful, I'd like to add Saints Row IV to that list. It was fun for a while, but I just wanted to get through the main story so I wouldn't have to play it again.
But adding to your blog, there were definitely some extraordinary games this generation. And more importantly, I love all the added detail to the little things in games that don't necessarily add a lot, but are really cool to see. I think GTA V added the most subt...
