I think you should be thanking Sony. If they hadn't dropped such a devastating beating on Microsoft at E3, they wouldn't have had to go into panic mode after looking at the pre-orders. All of this flip flopping and spontaneous feature creation is a result of being put into a really tight spot.
It's such a silly story. Sony is hedging their bets. They don't wanna get caught with their jimmies in a vice like they were with the PS3. Unable to add cross-game chat, and I'm sure numerous other unannounced OS-related features because they skimped on RAM.
4.5gb of GDDR5 RAM is overkill for games. Maybe in 5 years it won't be, and they can unlock more of it then, but right now it is. I have 8gb of DDR3 in my PC, and I never even hit 50% usage with games and ...

If this is all they have as ammo against the PS4, I'd say Sony is in a great position with their console.
How? Games rarely use more than 2 - 4gb of RAM. RAM is primarily for multitasking.

BTW, I was really only referring to it being mandatory to have the stupid thing plugged into the console for it to function. I don't care whether or not it comes with the XB1. I just want to be able to leave it in the box and never look at it again.

That's why it's a 7, not a 10. Besides, I didn't have an issue with the combat or soundtrack. The combo lab is fine. Maybe a bit limited if I were to knock it in any way.
