Darth. the sales of the PS2 don't necessarily hinder the sales of the PS3. If we saw the PS3 sales slow down then that thought would be vaild but it's not. A lot of people just can't afford the high price tags of this gen and so they will wait it out until this gen is at a price point for mass market. But you're right, growing the PS userbase is only a good thing ...

it's interesting that the internet and retailers says different on this supposed "supply issue".
let's look at it this way.
90% of tv's being manufactured are HDTV's and it will rise until 100% are HDTV's.
people will want HD media for their investment and will turn to Blu-ray.
The battle will be much harder though because the technology isn't revolutionary like VHS to DVD. but slowly, but surely consumers will migrate to HD.
But like someone said, until the majority of homes have HDTV's it will be a rough ride for Blu-ray
i would have bought GoW but i'm holding off for the Bundle. i always wanted Red and damn i'm gonna get it :P

2. blu-ray player only buyers

I'm sorry, but both PS1 & 2 dominated the past generations. The PS3 is doing well for its first year with "no games". it's in the Guinness Book of World Records. It's being used by government and scientific facilities. And this is its FIRST year. What does it have to prove? NOTHING.
so by ratio the PS3 sold twice as much.
