Sony is not in the game of pleasing the Playstation Loyalists. They are already sold on the PS4 - of not now or Xmas, then on Feb 2015. It's all about regaining the market that they've lost to the 360.

A surprise ME Trilogy this summer would be great. On the other hand - after Inquisition and Witcher 3 - it would be RPG overkill.

after U3 didn't surpass U2 (and actually a lot of people say they broke the game), i call these departures a good call. they were both directors for U3. U4 is probably a year from now - March 2015 - enough time to fix the game after they've left.

Sony produces about 1 million PS4s a month. without 400k that's 600k. divided by 4 weeks that's 150k. divided by two continents that's 75k.
Because Sony had to divert all available PS4s to Japan to have 400k for 1 week there, that means the US should now be getting extra restock instead of Japan: I'd predict 150k a week, as it was 0k for the last two weeks. just in time for Infamous.

The shipments that should've gone to the US, went to Japan. the PS4 is sold out because there are no PS4s to buy, the US sales are running on fumes that are quickly exhausting. Sony will now be rebuilding supply.
Sony's just supplied Japan with 400k consoles! that had to have hurt US and European supply!
gamestop.com had not had it for a very long time. it only sold pre-orders for a bundle with Infamous. amazon.com didn't have it either, it's still not there. those are probably the biggest online retailers in the US, when it comes to games. I know there are stores in cities that have it but who cares. bestbuy.com is also sold-out.
As you probably expect - X1 with free TitanFall is (and has been) available everywhere.
Next-gen slowing down heavily :/ X1 -2% stale just before TitanFall? PS4 another drop, but that's probably because it's sold out online (those 400k PS4s for Japan had to come from somewhere)

Type-0 on Vita, localized for US. Anyone have an idea why they refuse to do that? (by the way, they've also refused to support the PS3 first half of its gen).
the biggest gaming retailers in the US? gamestop and amazon .com? whenever the console is in stock there, it becomes the #1 bestselling item until it sells out. both those online stores hadn't had PS4 available in weeks because of Japan. That had to hurt the sales (-23%).
The PS4 was absolutely sold out in the US. Gamestop.com didn't have it nor did Amazon.com. Only yesterday did Amazon receive a new shipment of PS4s and it remained on #1 bestsellers spot since then.
The X1 is available everywhere since Jan 1. and is overshipped by a million units.
Sony diverted around 500k units for the Japanese launch.
From now on most of the consoles will be shipped to the US.
I have a theory:
They took the opportunity, that came along with moving to a new location, to clean the old closet, to get rid of perhaps not so fresh and creative people. and replace them with new talent they've been recruiting. the studio has to move away from (now generic) God of War. looks like their first attempt at a new IP done by the old GoW people failed.
so wait... MS is seriously over-shipping the X1.
3.9M vs 3.0 sold to consumers! that's a massive stock and it keeps on growing - the manufacturing lines are working all the time, while the market is already saturated and initial demand seems satisfied.
The PS4 on the other hand is sold out! Every shipment is gone in hours!
