I think people forget that even the big franchises started out as "unique games" or "huge risks". If you have the means to purchase, then there is absolutely no reason not to purchase. Even if the thing turns out to be a 360 level burning brick, you're still covered by warranty. I preordered the PS4, and it was a very easy decision. Sony has never suffered the tech unreliability issues that Microsoft has, so that is not a concern for me as their engineers have it hand over fist over Microsoft's engineers. No thanks. I'll be playing a ps4 first. If the goons at Microsoft ever come to their senses and drop the price, I will consider the Xbone. Till then I'll be playing the more powerful console with the best first party devs in the industry.
Of course it was justified. If a company tries to implement consumer unfriendly and freedom limiting policies under the guise of "progress", that company deserves to get ripped. Kudos to Microsoft for recognizing the calamity they created and bending over backwards to reverse their draconian policies, but they brought the backlash on themselves.
