it's not that the update will be large but that everybody will probably be getting it around the sametime, it wouldn't surprise me if servers collapse....the GT5P update took me almost an hour to donwload and I have 100MB download....well, that's the price you have to play to paly the most awesome game of the year...I have no problem with that, I'll go through the orgamisc game manual while it updates!
IMO that's the way it should be...like in the old times when gaming sites reviewed the game after it was out, reviews came out 2 or 3 days after release, no one cared that much, we had already started playing the game and it was rather a comparision of opinions between players and "experts"
Gaming sites even bought the games themselves in the past, the retail version...today? they get review-kits and if it contains free stuff even better, sometimes the version they ge...
they're just showing respect to the victims of that tragedy as it was video game related...so no big deal, it's not like they are delaying the game itself...I'm getting my copy in the morning so I could care less about any midnight launch parties even here at my local VG retailer

what I heard is that the deal was that some RPGs will be timed exclusive OUTSIDE Japan...which make sense if you think about it, the largest X360 install base is outside Japan, so by going that way SE sells well in all regions as in Japan the game is also released on the PS3.
MSFT knows Japan is lost, what they are more interested in is Europe and the US, but it's mainly Europe where they are losing (or lost) the advantage over the PS3 (after thursday for sure if there a differ...

Honestly, I prefer to keep the awesome memories I have from all those games...not interested at all in PS1 classics, they look horrible, time has past and it shows...now, re-makes it's another story, that'd be great
i haven't seen a single commercial in Sweden about the game and despite of that is topping the pre-orders list not only of PS3 but of the VG sections of any online retailer since weeks ago

I payed for XBL before, if SONY gives me something similar I pay, the only difference for me is that the PS3 doesn't break (my 360 broke twice in less than 12 months)...I only have a PS3 now so no big deal.
If the content is good; i'm ok with paying for it so maybe I can't forget about checking 20 diff. sites digging for PS3 news and previews
I loved my X360 but once it broke out of warranty I didn't feel it was worth it to buy a new one, I already had a PS3 and I saw a lot of value in it...I could care less about HDDVD/BR as for that I can buy a player, my console is to be used to play games rather than get over-used doing a lot of other things...I like to take care of it

kojima productions said that they pushed the PS3 cell processor to the limit...I say, yes probably, but as we know it today, developers will find ways to code more effectively on the PS3 HW as they get to know it ...
Halo:CE is part already of VG history, gameplay was great, music, story and characters were fantastic, the game looked too damn good for a console FPS...for some reason I find more appealing games where developers create a univers and characters from scratch rather than picking up today's sterotypes (arabs, latinamericas and now (RE5)Africans) to represent the bad guys in their games...that's pathetic IMO
