We should compare the two for what reason? As far as genre (dark fantasy epic vs. post apocalyptic survival horror(ish)) they are nothing alike. Yes they are both western style RPG's, and that's where the similarities end. The mechanics are completely different. The art directions are completely different. The way you move about the world is completely different. So why are we comparing the two?

The problem is that people who bash the graphics use the anonymity of the internet to go a step further and say they won't buy the game because of said graphics, usually calling the game broken. I can't recall how many people said they wouldn't buy the witcher because of the downgrade, but I can promise you it was a butt ton.
It is not a cross-Gen game. PC, Xbox One, PS4.

It does seem odd that they will be doing something prior to an E3 blowout.
I like how the author says "at least it is in a better state", as if the game was broken before. Sure a small portion of people had some issues, but this person, along with many others are deluded if they thought the game was previously broken at any point.
You also have to keep in mind that the amount of people playing now compared to 20 years ago is on a whole other level. With so many more people playing, along with idiots of the internet trying to break every game,it's way easier for bugs that may have never been found to be exploited.

Except for how ludicrously c9mplicated it us to do pvp. Even with sites like bloodbell.com. I'm still stuck on the Watchdog in the cursed dungeon, and it's sooo hard to get anyone in to help me

I'm about 20 hours in on PS4 and I've seen the frame rate drop one single time. a couple texture pop ins. The game is already pretty well "ironed out". Whatever issues these people are having is most likely due to them not having anything else to complain about.
It felt the same to me. Auto target does seem to make it better, but it's not so jarring it affects the game.
Agreed. This idea of a downgrade is, or should be a nonissue. I doubt a anyone developing this game gave less than 110%. Have you seen the game? It is one of the most detailed games I've ever seen, even more so than bloodborne. After 135 hours on that game I can tell you that one is a masterpiece, and this has the potential to be as good if not better. So the graphics.... I mean c'mon. Go do something constructive with your time.

I read nowhere in that article where the quotes from SMS sounded "disrespectful". It seems to me they were simply trying to explain a situation. Perhaps they used a myriad of too many big words for you. SMS has been incredibly up front to consumers about this game.
