Anonymous isn't really anything at all. It's just a name that people seem to take whenever they think they're doing good.

There's no list of members, no general aim or goal. If anything, the only reason we think of them as a collective is because they all use the Anonymous name and the banner, 'we are legion'.

By confirming that the Hackers left that calling card on the server, they have confirmed that the group were probably calling t...

@Chaostar

Let me give an example. Back when Duke Nukem was reannounced last year, there had been rumblings that it would happen for a few days before. As such, I spent a few days writing a retrospective of the previous games.

It came in at a little under 4000 words. It was pretty damn good, even if I say so myself. In it's entire lifespan, that article got in about 600 hits. At the same time, I remember there being an article on here about "the 10 di...

I think if my point is anything, it's that Journalism as a whole is pretty terrible, when judged by the general public.

Simply put, the day that well-written, smart critique gets the same sort of hits that trashy "best boob" type articles and scare-news gets, that'll be the day that Journalism as a whole gets better. But we, as writers, have to provide a product. If more people want the latter than the former, that's the product we're going to give. ...

@HolyOrangeCows

My sources aren't only from Twitter (although I used an example in the comments over at the site, because I happened to be on it at the time).

Just go ahead and take a look at more or less any worldwide message board. The Americans are complaining the PSN is up in Japan, the Japanese are saying it's not.

That's the way to be!

Japanese people?

As good a source as any.

The problem we're having here is I've seen more actual Japanese sources saying that the PSN is still down than sources saying it's up.

In fact, I haven't seen ANY genuine Japanese sources saying it's up.

So what are YOUR sources?

I think that is the biggest giveaway here, actually. Twitter and Facebook apparently know that the Japanese PSN is online, but Sony Japan doesn't.

Another exclusive is never going to be a bad thing for the platform :D

@SkidRowTrash

You know you've missed out on about 6 or 7 different series in the last couple of years?

That's because Telltale haven't been publishing to the 360.

I'm thinking Jurassic Park is a definite.

There's a quote in the article from someone claiming to have had money taken. Hearsay like that is all we as the general public are going to have access to.

EDIT: My mistake, it's an image of the email, not a quote.

I think the vast majority are mistaking Sony's warning to keep an eye on credit card statements for confirmation that they've been taken.

Which isn't the case. They're just covering their backs.

The worse that will probably come of this is people will need to learn new passwords. This is the internet though and that makes this entire situation on about the same level as a nuclear launch in real life.

Have you read the latest update? Emails, Usernames and passwords definitely have the potential to be leaked. Sony also say to be aware that Credit Card information could have been taken.

It's not scare mongering if it came straight from Sony. Then it's just news.

The latest update and the homepage have been really struggling for about the last 30-40 minutes.

@vitalogy

Did you read what you wrote? You want an explanation...for starters. Not to mention that my main gripe was with your analogy, which was nothing like the current situation.

5411d ago 0 agree1 disagreeView comment

A better analogy would be:

You go to the hospital and TERRORISTS attack. Should the hospital let you in even though the terrorists might shoot you as you enter or should they block you off?

It's a stupid analogy anyhew. Sony don't owe you anything because there isn't a huge amount they could have done to prevent any of this, not because it's a free service.

I keep seeing people say things like this. I can imagine this will come across as confrontational on the net, but I don't mean it to be.

Would you really rather that they keep updating saying that nothing is happening? People keep saying that we should have an ETA, but when so many people are using their original estimate of 1 or 2 days against them already, it's understandable that they're keeping quiet.

@Silly GameAr

Remind me, because I don't see it, exactly where I pointed fingers at Sony? Again, this is hardly positive PR for them is it? And that's whether it turns out to be true or not.

So, correct me if I'm wrong, but this is indeed a knock for Sony.

5412d ago 2 agree2 disagreeView comment

I have no idea what any of you mean or why I'm getting so many disagrees.

Nope, you're all right. If the Credit Card info HAS been leaked then that is nothing but good news for Sony. I bet they're celebrating right now...

Another knock for Sony.
