I don't think the arena shooter market is as big as they claim it is currently. Doom could have evolved into a modern day FPS and still maintained it's status just fine. We haven't seen an Unreal game in years, nor Quake and the last iteration for both of those games wasn't exactly the highlight of any particular series.
And personally, not having ADS in a shooter now kind of feels like a step-backwards. Roots or not.
No reason to get this if there are literally no new pieces of DLC or any new content to enjoy. The master versions with all the GOTY DLC are already out there for dirt cheap.
Well, who knows what MS has up it's sleeve for Windows integration...but frankly, I like the idea that Forza, Gears and Halo are only available on X1. I mean was that not the intention of buying an X1 for most people?
This is nothing new for the gaming industry...We get a few major release pre-summer, a drought that lasts until September or so usually and then all the other games pre-Winter or right before the holidays.
This is why we're all scratching our heads come August about where the games are.
Couldn't help but notice how all four maps had that gap made strictly for wall-running...Eesh.
I was a bit surprised that you're kind of forced to skate and grind on power-lines and rooftops the whole time. I wish it was more free-roam in that sense, but yes, it's a pretty decent game. Insomniac knows how to make fun games. Probably one of the best Games With Gold for X1 since Tomb Raider: DE was given away.
Sports games have been pulling the COD-release method for decades now. Hell, even into the early days of gaming.
Blame the people who run out and buy the newest years addition.
The early trailers didn't do it for me, but this looks great! October is going to be a busy month for gamers.
Reminds me of the 90's where we got an era of useless game devices and peripherals that everyone thought would be revolutionary to the industry.
I wish they actually went a bit further into the timeline, not back into prequel territory. I worry that it will play too similar to RDR as it is given that the possible map leak showed that we're visiting a few of the same areas. I'm sure it will be a great game, but GTA V was a major improvement over GTA IV, so will we see that same type of improvement or will we just get a very similar sequel?
And this is why there should have been a campaign beta...not a MP beta.
My concern is the SP. We saw 20 minutes of footage last year and nothing has been said or shown since. It's all been about MP, which is unnecessary to market a game as a MP when the primary focus is and has been SP.
Reminds me a of Man-Hunt.
It could end up being as awful as Dragonball, so no.
Save them for the next one. With XL out, they would be stepping into Capcom's shoes.
All of this MP bs needs to go away or the campaign aka REAL DOOM experience will suffer because of how much crap people are talking about the game now.
The beta should have been a taste of the campaign.
What an unnecessary game to mod.
I don't think Joe is always right...frankly, I find him to be quite irritating at times.
Any word on Horde? I hate that they are keeping it a secret!
Not as bad as when you see real reporters in movies....
Meanwhile, 90% of the comments here are from those without X1's.
