While a funny comment, how exactly is this not trolling?
It has the Windows 8 Kernel, not the OS. It also uses the Modern UI which is included in Windows 8 but they are not necessarily equal. Im sure the interface will get better just like the Windows 8 interface is and has.
Thats like me saying that the PS4 uses FreeBSD as the OS so I never want anything to do with that machine. Which I wouldnt, because I know the difference between a kernel and a full OS, and I know the difference between Windows, Linux, and FreeBSD.
Agreed. Its a great feature for navigating or controlling the system when you cant find the remote or just dont feel like trying to find it. And I know the PS4 can do the same type of stuff with a headset, but its much more convenient to have the kinect and not have to have a headset on to use the voice controls.
As for the games, it may or may not ever really flesh out but Ive found some of the current uses interesting. Like using the voice in DR3 to taunt other characters. ...
Completely disagree. There are tons of reasons to own it other than kinect or games. In fact, isnt that was the majority of PS fanboys were going on about? That it's more of a media hub than a gaming machine...
Personally I love having my cable hooked up through my Xbox One. The OneGuide gives me options comcast has failed to ever give it's customers till the X1 came out. And even then they arent giving it out to current subscribers unless they upgrade to the two most...
Obviously a lot of software work goes on behind the scenes before the release of any console. Im sure they started working on all these different ideas but some had to be put on the backburner or re-prioritized. Given that the article if read, said 1 year after announcement it isn't really a sensationalist headline. Im sure a lot of these features were actively being worked on when they announced the console.
@Fluke_Skywalker
So how do you define a console? Because the last time I checked "The term 'video game console' is used to distinguish a machine designed for consumers to use for playing video games on a separate television in contrast to arcade machines, handheld game consoles, or home computers."
Steam machines will run a custom linux OS built specifically for gaming that doesn't not support the features of a PC. In short, a PC can be a steam m...
He was in the wrong on this, but strangely he seems to be doing exactly what the majority of Sony fanboys do whenever anything good is said about the Xbox One. Which is to say the company paid for it.
Welcome to N4G. Where fanboys say stupid s$*% and although the battle is constantly going, nobody ever wins the war. If they had their way (No matter the allegiance they choose) everyone would lose.
I predict that you will make an idiot out of yourself by making ridiculous projections.
This is what happens when you try to alienate millions of people who disagree with your rampant fanboyism.
I know, the truth really does hurt.
So much Sony circle jerking going on in this articles comments. One console is more powerful than the other, but that hardly makes it not Next Gen.
Then again I guess its hard to think for yourself when your head is shoved so far up Sonys butt.
And sorry to be a downer, but that PS4 will not be the most powerful next-gen gaming machine for long. Valve would like to say with their steam machines ;)
@Esteix
Not for long. Those sexy steam machines are a comin' soon.
@gaffyh and wsoutlaw87
You guys ever heard of prohibition? You can always do something called research and you would find that not only did people continue to use the drug, alcohol, after it was illegal but it caused more deaths and injuries. There was a large increase in crime due to the underground market it created, and people got sold bum moonshine that either made them very ill or killed them.
Pretty much the entire prohibition movement is parallel to th...
@SilentNegotiator
Gotcha. Thats why I asked. Fair enough ;)
The gap exists, and yes only blind fanboys would say one doesnt exist to a certain extent. But there is a debate the most gamers with allegiance to one side dont really get into which is the value between function, performance, and games. It's really all subjective and I personally found the offerings from Microsoft to be of a higher value to me so I bought and Xbox One. Each value is weighed differently for each person which is where the perceived value differences fall between consumers...
@SilentNegotiator
It seems to me that a lot of people are keen to shout the specs and say the PS4 has 50% more raw power, but always seem to forget that CUs fall under the law of diminishing returns. More ROPs dont equate to a 1:1 increase in performance either.
"The increase from 900p to 1080p is more than 50%."
Im generally curious as to where you attained your 50% more figure here. Is that in refrence to the 40% from 720p to 900p added on...
There are a ton of mods that add new quests, new places, and new items. Hell, add enough mods that are compatible and it can feel like an entirely different game. Lets also not forget about the Morrowind remake in the Skyrim engine.
You sir, just havent done enough research into the mods.
Big ole Sony circle jerk going on in here
lol @ all the Sony Fanboys saying we dont need competition for good games. You just go ahead and enjoy your PS4, while the rest of us will be enjoying multiple consoles and more exclusives.
I feel bad for your guys. You missed out on tons of great games that werent on a Sony platform.
Yes, OMG yes.
Cant tell if troll, or just stupid...
Are we forgetting that 2014 also has a holiday season? Good ole black friday and Christmas will help with sales on both sides. I dont think the Xbox One which sold 3 million in 3 1/2 months is going to have trouble getting another 3 million by the end of the holiday season this year.
