I don't know, I seem to recall that that was pretty similar to what Kutaragi's original plans for the system were. He seemed like a pretty smart guy.
Monster Hunter = devastation.
I imagine a lot of N4G users are on suicide watch right about now.
Ah, yes, that's right: new year also means the rolodex of discussion topics turns over. Next week, we can talk about whether a six-hour game is too short or not.
"Hell we even pay less for higher speeds with unlimited bandwidth."
Most of Western Europe, sure. Eastern? Capped.
"but thats allot of hate if you ask me"
sidar, I do not hate anyone.
If anything, I feel nothing but sympathy for the people of Belgium who have to make do with 100 Gigs a month or else sell an organ each month to pay for unlimited.
How does anyone manage to live ...
"Regardless of what their motivations were for hacking the console, it will ultimately have a negative impact on sales."
Cause and effect. If you would rather ignore *why* things happen, that is of course your right. You can choose to go on at length about how you think hackers are jerks or whatever, but that is not going to have any sort of bearing on the modding or piracy situations, current or future.
"lets face it, people will do this for piracy/Cheating purposes"
Right, and those things are wrong, so cheaters should be banned and pirates should be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law.
Everything else that the hack does should be allowed, though.
"That is 50GB’s of space, so downloading the file would leave people on most plans over their bandwidth cap (We still have those? YES)"
If you live under a fascist, freedom-hating regime such as parts of Euroland, or most of Canada, or all of Australia, maybe. Thank goodness for the US of A. Bandwidth here is basically All-You-Can-Eat, and you're allowed to bring in a wheelbarrow.
"It's funny that you claim there are major benefits to hacking consoles (aside from piracy) and you give exactly zero benefits (aside from piracy) to support that claim"
Using Linux, backing up games, backing up the boot software to brick-proof the system, playing fan translations, playing games directly from the HDD to minimize load times.
And that's with PS3 Homebrew in the sorry state that it's been (though that is all going to c...
Considering that the modding community now holds all the security keys to the PS3, the PSP, and to the Blu-ray encryption, trying to kill OtherOS and Linux can be officially placed in the 'bad idea' column.
"The only thing I want is the next Zelda and thats it."
Ew, no. Miyamoto's influence on most games is inarguably to their extreme benefit, but the less input he has on the Zelda franchise, the better.
Did you guys know that the word 'gullible' is not in the dictionary?
"The article may state that, but visiting their website says you need PSDowngrade/PSJailbreak and FW3.50 or below to use the patch."
That is not going to be true for much longer. The jailbreaking is only required so that you can download and deliver the translation patch in the first place.
The recent cracking of the PS3's signing keys means that people will likely be able to download and run the patch without having to downgrade or break op...
"they will not even finish the graces one"
They have already finished roughly-translating all of the story, skits, and sub-events of Graces and 94% of its NPC chat. Obviously there is still a lot more work to be done with the remaining categories and with polishing up what they have, but they have sunk enough time and effort into the project that it is relatively unlikely that they will simply give up.
I can't recall how long it took to get the bare minimum number of stars to beat Bowser, maybe eight hours or so. 242 stars/100% completion actually displays the game clock, though, and that was definitely 26 hours fifty-something minutes.
"Nintendo = take a character from 10 years ago, throw them into a random game = sales"
I wish they would do this more frequently. Six years, I have been waiting for a new F-Zero. :-(
"for the actors, knowing what your motivation was at all these times must have been hell"
That and, as is typical, Euros are completely incapable of approximating American accents.
"Even if we ignore the toughness of their jobs do we REALLY think it was among the worst this year?"
Considering that there is not a single moment in the entire game that makes sense, taken on its own, in relation any other individual par...
No worries. Galaxy 2 basically pretends that the first one never happened.
This is a good thing, by the way, because the first one is a game best forgotten.
"Jailbreaking is illegal for game consoles"
An unjust law is no law at all.
All we need is a sufficiently high-profile case to reach the courts. When they recognize anti-jailbreaking practices as the infringement upon our rights that they are, we will be able to put this issue to bed and the Big Three can put their time and money to more efficient use -- like going after people who actually pirate games.
The Last Guardian.
IT WILL MAKE IT, OKAY?!
