On a side note, saw someone walking yesterday wearing a Dying Light 2 “dev” shirt
Really wanted to pick his brain and see what on earth is happening
No, this simply shows what anyone with a business sense comprehends. You CANNOT do what Sony is doing by staying stagnant in the world of business. Amazon is a powerhouse by adapting and being 5 steps ahead of the markets they touch. Sony should be looking 20 years ahead and not only make an acquisition for a large JRPG dev/publisher, but they also need to see where the industry will be headed and invest NOW (in cloud gaming) before it’s too late and it costs more down the line. Or before the...
The writer of this article is viewing this from a consumers perspective. Having this thought process is dangerous. You don’t sleep on a competitor who is willing to buy their way out of embarrassment. Sony absolutely needs to continue acquiring and anyone who says otherwise is foolish especially seeing as how Sony has not only stated they are looking to acquire but they also were hiring in 2018 for an executive position who’s sole responsibility is to play a critical role in determining appro...
Would also like to know if they are going to streamline game saves for houses with multiple consoles. It’s a bit of a pain and takes excessive time to go into the settings, save to the cloud manually, then upload the save on the other ps4 in the house
@jaymacx
You’re 100% correct. However what Sony horribly fails to realize is that a lot of Japanese developers have a more efficient and timely output of quality games. If you look at the quality of content in a Level-5 game and compare that to most American developers, it doesn’t add up. Level-5 puts out games with hundreds of hours worth of content that require heavy coding and RNG, in less time than most of Sony’s current studios take to make a game with far less content...
Still don’t understand how Sony is a Japanese company worth 100 billion yet they have only “1” Japanese studio. Amazes me
As a playstation preferred gamer (own all current gen consoles), the one thing that does piss me off with Sony is their lack of PS3 backwards compatibility. I understand not focusing (yet) on PS2 & PSOne due to the severe gap in graphical fidelity, but not preparing the PS5 with PS3 BC comes off as cheap, lazy and inexperienced in “my” opinion.
It’s obvious that Msft is banking on BC due to their current lack of upcoming near-term exclusives, but now with the acquisiti...
Don’t want to sound negative without having the time or platform to explain this in more detail, but long story short Laden’s lack of vision and adaptation with the industry is a key reason why he is no longer at the company. His ideologies were close-minded and dated
Crema would be a smart purchase
3 years seems about right. Holiday 2021 is solid for the release
I’m a Playstation preferred gamer, but I appreciate the strategy and elegant mastery of business competition. I have to tip my hat to Msft on this one. I’ve been saying for years Sony is sadly mistaken by allowing their studios to be lazy when it comes to action adventure games (as RPG’s require much more depth and intellect for the most part). The executives probably see how RPG’s are not only more difficult to create, but also more expensive. That is a dangerous thought process to have and ...
HZD is not an rpg
Sorry but neither of those are true RPG’s lol
And too bad Sony doesn’t want to fork over the funds to become the house of JRPG’s. Would make for great competition between their 1st party studios. Instead of the barrage of action/adventure or platform titles Sony’s 1st parties constantly develop
Sony should fork over 5 billion for Square Enix
Sony’s own fault, it is not sustainable to pay every generation for third party timed exclusives that will eventually make their way to xbox consoles. You need to build your studio numbers and balance your genre offerings (RPG’S) so that you don’t need to rely on Square Enix for IP’s that you don’t own. Now they won’t have Elder Scrolls, Fallout or Starfield. With Avowed and Fable coming as well Sony is sadly mistaken for not investing in RPG studios. RPG’s are the future of gaming.
Yes but maybe even similar to the Resident Evil treatment and do a complete overhaul while they’re at it To set the table for it to be a continuous Sony flagship RPG franchise moving forward
Really hoping JS & Bluepoint added on extra area of content to give returning players a special treat as well
Sounds good, I mainly meant exclusives that also won’t be available on PS. So the Medium is one I have on my list but trying to do research to figure out more. Phantasy Star Online 2 maybe as well?
Real fortunate for Xbox players. My favorite genre. Crazy how Sony has been in the industry from near it’s inception yet are nowhere to be found with their 1st party studios
